Senior Girls Basketball Awards: Shooter Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN High School Basketball Awards.

The pre-season watch list was trimmed down to 15 semi-finalists, and seven finalists for the award have now been selected. Winners are announced the week of the state tournament. 

Ariel Kirkwood, Milwaukee Vincent -- Kirkwood, a 6-foot guard, averaged 25.5 points per game and connected on 38 three-pointer for the Vikings who finished the year with a 15-8 record. Kirkwood tallied 1,429 points in her career. 

Chelby Koker, Shoreland Lutheran -- Koker, a 5-foot-6 Northern Illinois recruit, averaged 32.4 points per game (2nd in the state) and connected on 69 three-pointers. She averaged team-highs in rebounds (9.2), assists (3.7) and steals (3) per game for the Pacers who finished the year with a 21-3 record, falling to defending D3 state champion Marshall in a sectional semifinal. Koker finishes her career with 2,444 points. 

Cassie Schiltz, Luxemburg-Casco -- Schiltz, a 5-foot-11 Green Bay recruit, averaged 22.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.9 blocks per game for the Spartans (20-5). She shot 32-for-90 from behind the arc and shot over 51 percent from the floor. Schiltz ends her high school career with 1,961 points. 

Maddie Schires, Wausau West -- Schires, a 5-foot-8 Youngstown State recruit, is averaging 19.5 points per game with 73 three-pointers (39.2%), to go along with 5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per contest. Schires netted 33 points in Wausau West's 81-69 win over Appleton East in a sectional semifinal. The Warriors, 20-4, face Kimberly in a Division 1 sectional final on Saturday. Schires currently has 1,721 career points. 

Tara Stauffacher, Beaver Dam -- Stauffacher, a 5-foot-11 Wisconsin recruit, is averaging 11.6 points per game with 48 three-pointers for the two-time defending Division 2 state champions. She is part of a senior class that has lost just two in-state game, Bay Port and sectional final opponent Notre Dame, both of which came in her freshman year. She has over 1,000 career points. 

Lexi Wagner, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau -- Wagner, a 5-foot-9 Youngstown State recruit, is averaging 21.5 points per game with 72 three-pointers (41%), to go along with 4.1 assists per game. The Red Hawks, 23-2 overall, play Hayward on Saturday in a Division 3 sectional final. Wagner currently has 1,855 career points. 

Shemera Williams, Milwaukee Academy of Science -- Williams, a 5-foot-8 Marquette recruit, is leading the state with 32.8 points per game, to go along with 10.4 points, 8.7 assists and 4.6 steals per game. She has 76 three-pointers, while shooting just under 38 percent from behind the arc. Williams currently has 3,063 career points, which is second on the state all-time scoring list, 166 behind South Shore grad Megan Gustafson's record 3,229 points. Milwaukee Academy of Science (18-5) face Howards Grove in a Division 4 sectional final on Saturday. Williams led the Novas to a Division 5 state runner-up finish as a sophomore.
