Senior Softball Awards: Infielder/Catcher Finalists

Wisconsin Sports Network is proud to showcase the WSN Senior Softball Awards

The pre-season watch list has been trimmed down to six finalists. 

WSN Senior Softball Awards -- Infielder/Catcher Finalists:

Cierra Curran, Blair-Taylor -- Curran has helped the Wildcats reach the state tournament for a second consecutive season. She is hitting .532 with nine doubles, five triples and five home runs. Cierra also has 42 hits, 42 RBI and 44 runs scored on the season. At third base, Curran has a .947 fielding percentage. Blair-Taylor plays Gilman in a Division 5 state semifinal on Thursday. 

Ashley Hellenbrand, Poynette -- Hellenbrand has helped lead the defending Division 3 state champions back to the state tournament. She is hitting .426 with 29 hits, 29 RBI and 32 runs scored for the 28-0 Pumas. Ashley has four doubles, two triples and three home runs this season. She has a .870 fielding percentage. Poynette plays Prescott in a Division 3 state semifinal on Friday. 

Morgan James, Mineral Point -- James helped the Pointers reach Division 4 sectional play before falling to Wisconsin Heights. Morgan hit .571 with 48 hits, 15 doubles, four home runs and 33 RBI. The catcher posted a .993 fielding percentage and threw out 11 would-be base stealers in 30 total attempts. She is committed to play at NAIA Division II Viterbo University. 

McKenzie Lamos, Kenosha Indian Trail -- Lamos posted a .545 batting average to go along with a 1.260 slugging percentage. She tallied 42 hits, 13 doubles, 6 triples, 10 home runs, 46 RBI and 38 runs scored for the Hawks. Lamos posted a .942 fielding percentage for Kenosha Indian Trail. She is committed to NCAA Division II University of Missouri - St. Louis. 

Libby Neveau, Oshkosh North -- Neveau has helped Oshkosh North to a 28-0 record entering the state tournament. Libby is hitting .529 with a 1.161 slugging percentage. She has compiled 46 hits, 11 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 59 RBI and 44 runs scored for the Spartans. Defensively, she has a .953 fielding percentage. Oshkosh North plays Nicolet in a Division 1 state quarterfinal on Thursday. 

Haley Wynn, Whitnall -- Wynn, last year's WFSCA Division 2 Player of the Year, had another impressive season the year. She posted a .686 batting average and a 1.081 slugging percentage for the Falcons, last year's D2 state champion. Haley finished with 60 hits and 58 runs scored, to go along with 24 RBI. She also tallied seven doubles, nine triples and three home runs. Wynn is a terrific baserunner, she went 29-for-29 on stolen bases. She spent some time in the circle this season, posting a 13-3 record with 128 strikeouts and a 1.77 ERA. Whitnall fell to Monroe, 7-4, in a D2 sectional.
