Josh Blount of West De Pere has been selected as the Week 6 Player of the Week following a statewide vote on WisSports.net. His big day helped take down Bay Conference rival Menasha, as the Phantoms remain unbeaten. He was chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 6. A total of 7,439 votes were cast, as Blount's 2,705 were enough to edge second place Kabaris Vasser of Madison Memorial, who tallied 2,586 votes.

It was a monumental match-up in the Bay Conference, as unbeaten, second-ranked Menasha traveled to unbeaten, third-ranked West De Pere. There was plenty of firepower on display, including West De Pere junior quarterback Josh Blount, who carried the ball 26 times for 393 yards and six touchdowns in the game. Three of his scores went for more than 50 yards, including a pair of long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to give the Phantoms some breathing room after Menasha had closed to within a score. Blount also completed his only pass of the game for a 35-yard touchdown. West De Pere would hold on for a 56-42 victory.

Remember folks, the only way your favorite player can be named WisSports.net Player of the Week is to vote and share the word. Look for the Week 7 nominees to be posted Monday afternoon.
