Top Sports Movies to Watch While Stuck at Home -- Other Top Options

Governor Tony Evers announced his safer-at home order early Monday via his Twitter account, which will mean the closing of many businesses across the state that don't provide essential services.

With many more Wisconsinites about to find themselves spending their times at home, entertainment may be hard to come by. For those lovers of all things sports, sport movies can be a great substitute for the lack of live action we are accustomed to at this time of the year.

This week we'll be releasing a series of articles with top rated sports category movies according to other media sites.

Other Top Movies to Watch

As the weekend approaches, you may be looking for a substitute for the lack of MLB, NBA, and March Madness happening around the country.

Here are some more highly touted and stellar options to pick from in the world of sports movies. We won't use the bounty of movies mentioned in previous iterations of our Top Sports to Watch While Stuck at Home series. Make sure to go back and check out those options as well.

Rocky Series

While there may be duds in this series (I'm looking at you Rocky V), and this isn't exactly one film, this is one of the best sports franchises out there. Sly Stallone takes on a friend, his own demons, and all of Russia throughout these iconic movies.

Warrior (2011)

A father and his two sons look to put put back their broken family in an improbable spot, inside the Octagon. Ex-Marine Tommy (Tom Hardy) and teacher brother Brendan (Joel Edgerton) meet in the championship of the biggest MMA tournament ever as their father (Nick Nolte) watches on.

Miracle (2004)

Based on the true story of the 1980 gold-winning U.S. men's Olympic hockey team, Miracle is a compelling story on overcoming obstacles and a seemingly insurmountable task of winning a gold medal.

I, Tonya (2017)

I, Tonya is based on the true story of the incredible figure skater Tonya Harding and the conspiracy to injure fellow Olympic hopeful Nancy Kerrigan. Margot Robbie stars as Tonya and takes us throw the turmoils of her life before and after the infamous scandal.

Raging Bull (1980)

Watch the rise and fall of Jake LaMotta (Robert De Niro) a middleweight boxer who rises to the top of the boxing world, only to self-destruct and free fall, losing everything.

Rush (2013)

Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl portray the real life rivalry of 1970's Formula 1 racers James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Both men will risk everything in their race to one up the other.

The Wrestler (2008)

The story of the life that is wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson, played by Mickey Rourke, is one filled with turmoil. As he steps away from the ring to focus on what matters most, the ropes bring him back for one last match.

Southpaw (2015)

Billy Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) had it all; a junior middleweight boxing title, a family, and a high-class life. When tragedy hits him, Billy hits rock bottom and loses his family, house, and manager. Watch as he tries to reclaim his glory and life.

Ford v Ferrari (2019)

The newest installment on the list, Ford v Ferrari focuses on Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and Ken Miles' (Christian Bale) fight to build a top-notch sports car for the Ford Motor Co. Fighting struggles with the corporate office, and themselves, they plan to race Enzo Ferrari in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.

Karate Kid (1984)

Daniel (Ralph Macchio) learns karate and life lessons from the guru himself Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki Morita). Bullied by Johnny (William Zabka) and the rest of the Cobra Kai dojo, Daniel trains to square off with his adversaries.

The Fighter (2010)

Micky Ward (Mark Wahlbarg) goes from down on his luck boxer to contender for the world title after a split from his half-brother Dicky (Christian Bale) and the rest of his meddling family. Based on a true story, watch as Micky and his family seek redemption in Micky's latest push.

Ali (2001)

Will Smith portrays boxing legend Muhammed Ali and depicts how the former champ changed American culture in not just the boxing world. Watch as Ali takes on all boxers, social injustice, and the existing conditions in the American way of life.

Fighting With My Family (2019)

Based on WWE's Paige and her family, this movie follows the young English wrestler and her dream to be the best. She must come to realize her differences is what will propel her to stardom.

Creed (2015)

A continuance of the Rocky franchise, Creed follows Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) as he follows in the footsteps of his father Apollo Creed into the boxing world. Eventually he seeks out Rocky (Sly Stallone) as a mentor and his natural ability and hard work push him ever higher in the boxing world.
