Baraboo sophomore Johan Lopez has been selected as the SportsEngine.com Athlete of the Week after a vote on WSN.
There were 5,303 total votes this week. Johan topped all vote getters with 1,858 votes. River Fall's Zach Nye came in second with 1,742 votes.
Johan was sensational last week, accounting for 11 goals and one assists as Baraboo went 2-0-1 over three games. First in a 6-1 win over Lake Mills, Johan had four goals and one assist. He followed it up with another five goals in a 9-1 win over Poynette/Portage. Johan finished it off with two second half goals as Baraboo tied Edgewood 2-2.
Earlier this week, Johan netted another two goals as Baraboo beat Watertown 3-2. He will look to improve upon the Thunderbird's 7-1-1 record with matches against Sauk Prairie and Tomah to wrap up this week.
