As part of the weekly preview I produce every Thursday showcasing the best games from around the state, I always highlight one contest as the Game of the Week. To expand on that, each week I'll post a poll where you -- the fans -- can vote for who you think will win the Game of the Week.

Amherst (3-0; D5 #2) at Stratford (3-0; D5 #3) – Friday, 7 pm

Both teams have been powerhouses for many years, but each suffered pretty substantial graduation losses that led some to wonder just how elite they would be in 2020. So far, Amherst and Stratford have answered the bell in impressive fashion, and the teams' rankings in the latest WSN Division 5 Coaches Poll bears that out. The teams have been semi-regular postseason opponents, meeting up five times since 2012, including last year when Stratford beat Amherst 19-7 in a state semi-final game. It was the first time all year that a team scored against Stratford. Overall, Amherst holds a 4-1 advantage in the recent playoff matchups, however. Now, the teams are part of the same conference, as Stratford moves from its longtime home as a member of the Marawood into the CWC-Large ruled by Amherst in recent years. The victor takes a huge step towards seizing a league title. Stratford is coming off a very impressive 28-0 shutout of Spencer/Columbus Catholic.
