Below are the VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of December 21 through 27. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.
VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Dec. 21-27
Caden Berger, Durand boys basketball: Durand squared off against Fall Creek last week, pitting a pair of unbeaten teams against each other. Berger was a difference maker for Durand as they squeaked out a 59-58 victory. The 6'3" senior forward had a game high 25 points to lead his squad.
Cam Palesse, Waukesha West boys basketball: Waukesha West picked up an impressive 86-76 win over Mukwonago. Palesse filled the stat sheet including scoring a game high 36 points. The Valparaiso recruit added eight rebounds and four assists.
Casey Verhagen, Sheboygan Lutheran boys basketball: Verhagen came one steal short of a triple-double as he did a little bit of everything in a 111-74 win over St. Mary Catholic. The crafty point guard finished with 30 points, 10 assist, nine steals, and six rebounds, shooting 11 of 18 from the field to lead the Crusaders to their seventh win of the season.
Bailey Lutes, Cuba City girls basketball: The Cuba City girls basketball team picked up a great win last week, winning 44-37 over Dodgeville. Lutes, a UIC signee, finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Raegan Sorensen, Unity girls basketball: Sorensen set a school record as Unity beat down Cameron 78-44. The senior guard scored 45 points in the win setting a new school record. She added 10 steals, eight rebounds, and five assists.
