Wauwatosa East's Brian Parzych selected as state's top senior point guard

Wauwatosa East's Brian Parzych has been selected as the top senior Point Guard as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards

Parzych is an aggressive point guard who led a talented Wauwatosa East squad to a 23-3 record, the WIAA Division 1 state championship and the Greater Metro Conference title. His quickness, physical play, relentless attacking of the basket and ability to pass and score were huge assets all season for the Red Raiders.  

A three-year varsity performer for coach Tim Arndorfer and a NCAA Division II recruit for Northern Michigan, Parzych finished his career with a 938 points and averaged 14.4 points per game as a senior. 

He scored a career-high 30 points in a victory at Menomonee Falls and shot 55 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line in 2020-21. In addition to his scoring, Parzych also averaged 4.6 rpg, 4.8 apg and 2.4 spg. 

Finalists for the award were Parzych, Mason Dorn of Seymour, Tyrese Hunter of Racine St. Catherine's, Brandin Podziemski of St. John's Northwestern Academies and Preston Ruedinger of Lourdes Academy. 

Past winners of the award include Max Klesmit of Neenah (2020), Jaeden Zackery of Westosha Central (2019), Jordan McCabe of Kaukauna (2018), Bailey Kale of La Crosse Central (2017), Te'Jon Lucas of Milwaukee Washington (2016), Darrell Riley of Milwaukee North (2015), Riley LaChance of Brookfield Central (2014), Duane Wilson of Dominican (2013), and Carrington Love of Pius XI Catholic (2012).
