Level 2 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Black Hawk/Warren (IL) Warriors

Black Hawk/Warren (IL) kept the powerful Hilbert running game in check and dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball to post a 20-3 win over the top-seeded Wolves on Saturday. Hilbert led 3-0 after the first quarter, but it was all Black Hawk/Warren (IL) the rest of the way. The Warriors limited Hilbert to just 126 yards on 31 carries and 149 yards overall. Their own running game rolled up 243 yards on 49 carries, with another 68 yards coming through the air.

Coleman Cougars

Coleman and Pacelli were both unbeaten entering Level 2, but Coleman left no doubt about who the better team was, racing out to a 24-0 lead and closing out a 56-18 victory. Ten different players carried the ball for the Cougars for 592 rushing yards and six touchdowns, as the team averaged 11.6 yards per carry. The passing game chipped in 42 yards, as Coleman posted more than 600 total yards of offense in the game. The defense was just as spectacular, limiting Pacelli's Brycen Cashin to 104 yards, about 100 below his season average.

Hartford Orioles

Hartford has been the cardiac kids so far this postseason, scoring a pair of one-point victories. After outlasting Kaukauna 14-13 in Level 1, the Orioles went on the road and survived 43-42 in overtime against top-seeded De Pere. Hartford led 21-15 at halftime, and saw a wild final minute of regulation. The Orioles scored with just 39 seconds left to go up 36-29, but helped by a pair of pass interference penalties and two untimed downs, De Pere scored on the final play of the game to tie it up and force overtime. Hartford scored first in the extra period and kicked the extra point. De Pere would score quickly on their possession, but a two-point conversion came up just short, sending Hartford home victorious.

Mayville Cardinals

In a game that seemed like it may never end, Mayville went on the road and shocked top-ranked Lake Country Lutheran 55-48 on Friday night. Mayville jumped out to a 20-0 lead and led by multiple scores most of the game, but both teams kept adding points in bunches. It was a balanced offensive attack for Mayville, as quarterback Adison Mittelstadt threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-14 passing, while the ground game rolled up 254 yards and six touchdowns, led by Blake Schrafnagel's 142 yards and three scores.

Monroe Cheesemakers

It was pure domination for the fifth-seeded Monroe Cheesemakers on Friday as they put a running clock on top-seeded and previously unbeaten Greendale in a 42-6 victory. Helped by wind and rain that made passing the ball difficult, Monroe limited Greendale to just 150 total yards, as the Panthers completed just two-of-18 passes for 23 yards with two interceptions. Meanwhile, Monroe's ground-and-pound attack was in full force, with three different players going for more than 100 yards, as the team finished with 390 rushing yards.
