Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Kaylee Miron, St. Croix Falls

The Bug Tussel Wireless Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with the a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The goal and mission of Bug Tussel Wireless is to level the playing field for rural residents despite where they may live. Whether you work from home, your office is downtown or you are manning the family farm, they believe residents should be connected without having to compromise speed, price, quality, service or the environment.

Volleyball Honors: Four-year letterwinner for the Saints... helped SCF to four conference championships -- first two years in the Lakeland West and last two in the Heart O'North... part of four regional championships... helped the Saints advance to the 2020 state tournament, the program's first trip to state... as a senior, compiled 97 kills, 27 aces, and 210 digs... coached by Alyssa Notermann... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year letterwinner for the Saints... helped the team to three conference championships -- first two in the Lakeland West and one as a member of the Heart O'North... four-time regional champion... helped lead the Saints to the program's first state tournament appearance as a senior... first-team all-Heart O'North as a senior... honorable mention all-conference as a junior in the HON... team captain as a senior... coached by Angie Maternowsky... averaged 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.7 steals per game for the 24-5 Saints as a senior... committed to NCAA Division III St. Catherine University... 

Softball Honors: One-year letterwinner 

Track & Field Honors: Two-year letterwinner... state qualifier in the 4x100 meter relay as a junior... coached by Steph Belisle... 

Favorite Sport (and why): "My favorite sport is basketball because it has been an activity that I grew up playing with my family. My father has coached me and my older sister in basketball all through our adolescents and my father and I coach my younger sister in basketball. Being able to play the sport we love together has made my family a lot closer."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The best part of high school sports is being able to enjoy the sports you love with all of my friends." 

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "My relay team had no hope of moving forward in regional as we were ranked low and our coach told us no matter how you compared to others, you needed to go out and run with the confidence of the first ranked team. In sports, a good mindset is just as important as skills." 

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "My senior year basketball team was the first St. Croix Falls girls basketball team to ever make it to state. After the section final game, the realization of the history we made rang through the gym. The excitement that was rushing through the team and the fans made the memory indescribable." 

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: The best part of playing three sports is getting the chance to make bonds with a wide range of people. From sharing my nervousness with the runner in the lane next to me to congratulating a girl on the basketball court for an impressive game, I get to make connections with everyone." 

Toughest Part of Playing Three Sports: "The toughest part of playing three sports is managing my time. It’s important to be able to balance sleep, school work, and practice times so you can stay at peak ability." 

Favorite Opponent (and why): "My favorite opponent is Prescott because it is always a physical game but I have also played in summer leagues with multiple of the players on that team."

Favorite Professional Team: Los Angeles Lakers 

Favorite Professional Athlete: "My all-time favorite professional athlete is Lindsay Whalen. When I was little I would watch her play on the Minnesota Lynx team. Now, I watch her take those basketball skills and put them to use as the head coach of the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team. The way that she has given back to the basketball community is admirable."

Favorite College Team: "My favorite college team is St. Catherine’s women's basketball team. I enjoy watching them play because next year I will be joining them on the court. I love watching the personalities and skills mesh together."

Cumulative GPA: 3.9

Toughest Individual You’ve Competed Against (and why): "The toughest athlete I have played against is Raemalee Smith. She has very quick moves on the basketball court and she has great mental toughness."

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "My oldest sister Olivia was always my favorite high school teammate. She always works really hard and pushed me to my greatest potential. There is nothing like playing with someone when you have a sisterly bond."

College Plans: "I will be attending St. Catherine’s University in the fall of 2022. I will be playing basketball and running track there. I will major in biology as I take the route of pre-med." 

Activities Outside of Sports: "Outside of my high school sports, I do a lot of coaching and working. When I am not at my own practice, I am in the gym with my father coaching my younger sister in basketball. During the weekends, I spend most of my time working at a laundromat in downtown St. Croix." 

I Find it Relaxing to: "When I need to relax I like to hang out with my friends." 

Favorite TV Show: Criminal Minds. 

Favorite Movie: Wonder Woman

Favorite Musical Artist: Clinton Kane

Favorite Subject: Math

Favorite Restaurant: Buffalo Wild Wings

Other Family Members: "I have an extremely supportive family which includes my mother, Amy, my father, Jake, my eldest sister, Olivia, and my younger sister, Samantha."
