The Sauk Prairie Eagles have been selected as the Week 1 WSN Football Team of the Week following a statewide vote on WSN. The team scored a big win over Baraboo to end a lengthy losing streak. The Eagles were chosen from a strong group of nominees in Week 1. A total of 3,681 votes were cast, as Sauk Prairie's 1,904 votes edged Rice Lake's 696 votes.

Sauk Prairie entered 2022 with an 18-game losing streak that dated to the final game of the 2019 season, but the Eagles quickly put an end to that in one of Week 1's biggest upsets. Sauk Prairie went up 9-0 early and held on for a 23-13 victory over visiting Baraboo. Derek Hilden ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns, as Nolan Vils and Hayden Brice caused havoc up front on defense.
