Week 3 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Cambria-Friesland Hilltoppers

Cambria-Friesland is off to an impressive 3-0 start to the season, including a 28-7 victory over defending Trailways Conference champion Lourdes Academy on Friday night. The Hilltoppers rolled up 326 rushing yards in the game, as both Trevor Krueger and Isaac DeYoung went for exactly 143 yards on the ground. DeYoung would score three touchdowns while Krueger had one. Cambria-Friesland's defense limited Lourdes to just 24 rushing yards and recorded two interceptions.

Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates

Cochrane-Fountain City opened the 2022 Dairyland Conference schedule with a 45-22 victory over Eleva-Strum. The Pirates offense racked up more than 400 yards via a well-balanced attack. Austin Amburg completed eight-of-11 passes for 216 yards and a score, while Tanner Scheiffer accounted for 136 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. The Pirates trailed 14-7 after the first quarter before reeling off 24 unanswered points to take control.

Lodi Blue Devils

The Capitol Conference is one of the strongest in the state, and the Lodi Blue Devils got a huge opening league win against Lakeside Lutheran, 21-7. Quarterback Mason Lane scored three rushing touchdowns as part of a big day. He ran for 112 yards and also threw for 105. The Blue Devils held their own against the powerful Lakeside Lutheran rushing attack and held the Warriors to to just 15 passing yards and recorded an interception.

Mount Horeb/Barneveld Vikings

Mount Horeb/Barneveld shared the Badger-Small Conference title last year, and despite some shuffling of the league this year, the Vikings are intent on keeping their name in the race once again. They proved that with a thrilling 20-19 victory over DeForest, the new kid on the block who we pegged as the favorite entering the year. Mount Horeb/Barneveld trailed 19-14 into the fourth quarter, but Kasey Helgeson hit Landon Ellestad for a two-yard score with just under eight minutes remaining and the lead held the rest of the way. Helgeson threw three touchdowns in the game, while the defense picked off DeForest quarterback Mason Keyes three times.

Prescott Cardinals

Prescott led Osceola 23-13 at the break, only to see the Chieftains tie things up heading into the fourth quarter. Prescott responded in a big way, scoring three, fourth-quarter touchdowns, all by Barrett Temmers, to score a 44-23 victory. The Cardinals rolled up 560 total yards of offense in the game, with quarterback Teddy Bernick throwing for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-29 passing.
