Former Grantsburg standout Leo Chenal is in his rookie year with the Kansas City Chiefs
The state of Wisconsin continues to have a strong presence in the NFL, with 29 players on rosters or practice squads at the beginning of the 2022 season. That includes marquee names such as J.J. Watt, T.J. Watt, Derek Watt, Ryan Ramczyk, and Melvin Gordon, along with a host of young up-and-coming players.
Players who were on the list last year but are no longer in the NFL include Beau Benzschawel (Grafton), Brandon Brooks (Milwaukee Riverside), Derek Carrier (Edgerton), Chris Garrett (Wisconsin Lutheran), A.J. Klein (Kimberly), James Morgan (Ashwaubenon), Joe Schobert (Waukesha West), Trae Waynes (Kenosha Bradford), and Robert Windsor (Fond du Lac).
Newcomers this season include six, first-year players: Logan Bruss (Kimberly HS, Wisconsin, LA Rams injured reserve), Mike Caliendo (Brookfield East HS, Western Michigan, Kansas City), Leo Chenal (Grantsburg HS, Wisconsin, Kansas City), Jake Ferguson (Madison Memorial HS, Wisconsin, Dallas), Luke Goedeke (Valders HS, Central Michigan, Tampa Bay), Matt Henningsen (Menomonee Falls HS, Wisconsin, Denver).
