Week 8 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Kettle Moraine Lasers

Kettle Moraine forced a three-way tie atop the Classic Eight Conference with a 28-7 victory over previously unbeaten and Division 1 top-ranked Mukwonago on Friday. The Lasers controlled things throughout, going up 7-0 early, adding two touchdowns in a span of nine seconds late in the fourth quarter to close things out. Nolan Schopp ran for 110 yards and a touchdown with a team-high 20 tackles on defense. Chase Spellman threw a pair of touchdowns while Adam Rife had a late Pick-6.

Martin Luther Spartans

Martin Luther moved into sole possession of first place in the crowded Metro Classic Conference race with a thrilling 27-20 win over previously unbeaten Racine St. Catherine's. It was a dogfight the whole way, as neither team led by more than a score. St. Catherine's tied it at 20 with just over two minutes remaining, but Martin Luther had one more chance to win it. Sure enough, L'Shawn Taylor would score his fourth touchdown of the day from three yards out with just 16 seconds remaining to lift the Spartans to a win. Taylor finished with 132 yards and four scores, adding two catches for 42 yards.

Racine Park Panthers

Racine Park shocked the Southeast Conference and league-leading Oak Creek with a 24-21 victory over the Knights on Friday night, as the Panthers have a good chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Trevion Carothers scored the game-winning touchdown on a 39-yard touchdown scamper with 43 seconds remaining, as he finished with 90 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Daeyzjuan Williams did considerable damage, rushing for 213 yards and two scores on 24 carries.

Southern Door Eagles

The Eagles ended Kewaunee's 27-game conference winning streak, took control of the Packerland Conference, and scored a big win for seeding purposes with a 19-14 victory on Friday. The Eagles went up 13-0 in the first quarter but found themselves down 14-13 in the fourth quarter. Drew Daoust ran in from four yards out for the game-winner. Zack Lynch ran for 122 yards in the win, while Daoust threw a touchdown in addition to his rushing score.

Wisconsin Dells

Wisconsin Dells took over sole possession of first place in the South Central by handing Adams-Friendship its first loss of the year, 20-7. The Chiefs opened the scoring on a one-yard touchdown run from Braden Buss, but Adams-Friendship tied things at halftime, 7-7. The Dells would add another short Buss touchdown run in the third quarter before John Scott capped things off with a one-yard plunge in the fourth. Scott finished with 173 yards and a touchdown on 36 hard-fought carries.
