Week 9 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Auburndale Eagles

Auburndale handed defending Division 6 state champion Colby its first loss of the year and forced a three-way tie for first place in the Marawood Conference by defeating the Hornets 20-14 on Friday night. Trayton Weber threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, including what turned out to be the game-winning score to Alex Willfahrt with just over five minutes remaining.

Bay Port Pirates

Bay Port held off West De Pere 34-27 in a battle of unbeatens in Week 9, securing an outright FRCC-North Conference title. The win kept Bay Port as the only undefeated team in Division 1 and wrapped up a top seed in the playoffs. Quarterback Cole Benson was dynamic once again, doing most of his damage on the ground, where he carried it 33 times for 213 yards and five touchdowns. He also threw for 80 yards in the victory.

Mayville Cardinals

Mayville won a huge showdown in the Flyway Conference on Thursday, as the Cardinals knocked off Saint Mary's Springs in a matchup of previously undefeated teams that happened to each finish as state runners-up last year. The 27-17 victory was secured by a big third quarter that saw the Cardinals stretch an 8-3 halftime advantage to a 21-3 lead heading to the fourth quarter. Blake Schraufnagel ran for 168 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries, while Payton Borchardt was key with 70 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Milwaukee Marshall

Milwaukee Marshall won the City Conference title with a 38-6 victory over Milwaukee Vincent in a season-ending crossover championship game. Quarterback Alijah Ortiz had a nice game for first year head coach Anthony Dowery, throwing for 280 yards and four touchdowns on just nine completions, hitting on big play after big play in the passing game. Marshall's defense held Vincent to just 3.2 yards per rush attempt and 33 passing yards on seven attempts.

West Salem Panthers

West Salem took down defending state champion and D5 top-ranked Aquinas 28-14 on Friday night to grab an outright Coulee Conference title. The defense picked off Aquinas quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer twice and held the Blugolds to just 43 yards rushing. Luke Noel ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns while Brett McConkey threw for 185 yards and a score.
