Level 2 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Bangor Cardinals

Bangor went on the road in Level 2 and shutout a very good Potosi/Cassville team 20-0 in a Division 7 playoff game on Friday. The Cardinals did not complete a pass in the victory, but rolled up 331 yards on the ground on 61 carries, grinding out the win. Both Tanner Jones and Clayton Lyga went over 100 rushing yards for Bangor.

Burlington Demons

Sixth-seeded Burlington and second-seeded Westosha Central played one of the wildest games of the year last night, as Burlington went up 41-21 early in the fourth quarter, only to see Westosha Central come roaring back to take a 42-41 lead with just 37 seconds remaining. However, a big kick return and a couple more plays set up Benjamin Graham for a game-winning 37-yard field goal on the final play of the game, as Burlington escaped with a 44-42 win.

Colby Hornets

Defending Division 6 state champion Colby bumps up to Division 5 this year, and despite an 8-1 regular season record, were a four-seed in a very strong region. That meant a Level 2 road game at top-seeded Saint Croix Falls, but the Hornets took care of business in a 28-0 shutout win. Like Bangor, Colby did not complete a pass, but they didn't need to, as the running game produced 307 yards and four touchdowns on 43 carries and the defense picked off five SCF passes.

Monroe Cheesemakers

It was one of the most anticipated games of Level 2 and it it certainly lived up to the hype. Monroe went up 14-0 in the second quarter, but Pewaukee came back to take the lead 21-14 with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, one on a fumble return score with 1:16 left in the game. Monroe was able to matriculate down the field and scored with 12 seconds left on an 18-yard pass from George Brukwicki to Drew Indergand. The Cheesemakers converted the two-point run by Brukwicki for the game-wining points in a 22-21 victory.

Muskego Warriors

Muskego took down defending Division 1 state champion Franklin 42-18 on Friday, breaking open what had been a close game with three, fourth-quarter touchdowns, all by Ashton Krause. The defense picked off Franklin quarterback Boston Halloran four times, helping overcome a Sabers advantage in total yards of offense in the game. It marks the fourth time in the last five years that Muskego has ended Franklin's season in the playoffs.
