We asked, you voted, and Mondovi against Darlington has been selected as the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week for Level 4 of the high school football season. A total of 15,658 votes were cast, as this one received 6,750 of those votes.

The Kwik Trip & Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week allows you, the fans, to pick what you feel is the biggest high school football game in the state each week. Not only will that game get featured on WisSports.net, but WSN General Manager Travis Wilson will make it his destination that week, with updates, photos, videos, and stories from the big game.

And of course, no trip to a big game in Wisconsin would be complete without a stop or two at Kwik Trip and a chocolate milk!!

Mondovi has just one blemish on its record, a 37-14 loss to Regis. The Buffaloes are 11-1 overall, coming off a 35-0 running clock victory against top-seeded Marshall. The team relies heavily on the dynamic senior backfield duo of quarterback Jarod Falkner and running back Dawson Rud, who are also standouts defensively.

"Our mindset going into this game is confident, but not cocky," said Mondovi coach Craig Loscheider. "We have a ton of respect for Coach Winkers and Darlington. We have played them the past two playoff years, so we know them well and we understand the challenge they present. They are very good on both sides of the football. At the same time, we are playing our best football of the season right now and we are coming off of Level 2 and 3 wins against a couple of really good teams, so we are confident."

Darlington is into the state semi-finals for the sixth time since 2013, though the Redbirds are still chasing their first state title since 1995. It's a typical Darlington team, big and physical up front with multiple backs that can and will carry the ball. The defense held an explosive Kenosha St. Joseph offense in check last week, limiting the Lancers to just 2.4 yards per rush attempt. That they'll matchup with Mondovi once again is no surprise.

"There were 3 teams (Springs, Mondovi, and Aquinas if they dropped down to D6) that I was focused on all off-season and once the season finally began," said Redbirds coach Travis Winkers. "We have played them twice in the last three playoffs and they are one, of if not, the most physical teams we have played. I have so much respect for what they do and I expect a very hard-hitting physical bloodbath of a game. The exact type of game you expect for Level 4 in Wisconsin!"

Darlington is looking to continue to move past last year's state semi-final loss to Saint Mary's Springs, when they were up 24-0 after the first quarter only to see Springs score 35 unanswered points.

"We're having flashbacks from last year when we didn't finish our Level 4 game the way we wanted to," Winkers said. "Being up 24-0 and losing has motivated us every day and now we get to redeem ourselves. Again we have a highly motivated group of kids and they are very excited about this opportunity."
