Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: November 7-13

Ella Antoniewski, Waukesha South/Mukwonago Co-op

Antoniewski had a coming out party, competing at her first WIAA State Meet. In her freshman year, she took home two individual titles. Antoniewski won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:48.07. The freshman swimmer then won the 500 freestyle, outlasting defending champion Reese Tiltmann of Brookfield East. She won the race in a time of 4:49.75.

Izzy Enz, Edgewood

Enz won four events this past weekend at the WIAA Division 2 Swim & Dive Meet, leading the Crusaders to an eighth straight team title. The senior swimmer began by breaking her own record in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the race with a time of 1:47.64. It was her third straight title in this event. Enz also won her third straight 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.83. She then teamed up on a pair of winning relays. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Enz and her teammates swam to a record setting time of 1:34.05 and finished on the 400-yard freestyle relay team that won in 3:26.55. 

Libby Michel, Grafton

Michel competed in four events this weekend, a pair of individual races and two relays. The senior swimmer took home gold in the 200-yard individual medley, her fourth time qualifying for the event. Her winning time of 2:04.00 was exactly one second off the state meet record. Michel then picked up bronze honors in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing the race in 4:57.87. Michel was a part of both the 200 yard freestyle relay and 200 yard medley relay teams, with neither medaling on the day.

Lucy Thomas, Brookfield East

Thomas set a state record in the 100 breaststroke this weekend en route to her fourth straight title in that event; something no other swimmer has done in state meet history. She senior swam the race in a time of 58.89, setting the state meet record. Thomas then was a part of a pair of winning relay teams. First, the 200 medley relay team won in a time of 1:39.68, which was the second fastest time in meet history. Thomas then was a part of the 400 freestyle relay team that won in a new record time of 3:18.95.

Hailey Tierney, Arrowhead

Tierney capped her senior swimming season off in record breaking style this past weekend at the WIAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving Meet. She won two individual events in record setting times and was a part of a winning relay team on the day. In the 50 freestyle spring, Tierney set the Division 1 record with a time of 21.84 and proceeded to do the same in the 100 freestyle, setting the record with a time of 48.52. Tierney then teamed on 200 freestyle relay that took home gold in a time of 1:31.14 which was .01 seconds from a third record being set by Tierney. Her performance helped Arrowhead capture the Division 1 team title.
