Hometown Ticketing Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 12-18

Teagan Mallegni, McFarland

Mallegni has been great all season for the 8-1 McFarland girls basketball team, but last week she was spectacular. One of the top players in the 2024 class, Mallegni recorded a triple double in the first game of last week in a 90-28 win over Clinton. She had 24 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the blowout victory. Mallegni then led the seventh ranked team in Division 2 in the WSN Coaches Poll to a 66-56 win over Oregon, scoring a game high 22 points.

Taliya Michlig, West Salem co-op

Michlig and the West Salem co-op gymnastics team competed at the Prairie du Chien/Fennimore Invitational this past Saturday. The senior gymnast came out ahead of the pack finishing as the all-around champion with a score of 35.0. Michlig finished second on the vault with a score of 8.95 and third on the floor exercise with a score of 8.95. She also tied for fifth on both the balance beams and uneven bars with scores of 8.65 and 8.45 respectively. Michlig's all-around championship helped West Salem to a team win as well, finishing with a score of 136.875.

Will Syens, Central Wisconsin Christian

Syens led the Central Wisconsin Christian boys basketball team to a trio of Central Wisconsin conference wins this past week. The senior guard started the week off with 21 points and 11 rebounds in an 80-54 win over previously unbeaten Wayland Academy. He followed that up with 16 points and two boards in a 55-39 win over Oakfield. Syens ended his week with another double-double, recording 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 55-50 win over Horicon. Over the three games, Syens added ten steals and seven assists.

Dallas Wallin, Prescott

Wallin has been a double-double and rebounding machine to start the year for the Prescott boys basketball team. That trend continued last week, first in a 64-44 win over Altoona. The 6'6" junior recorded 21 points and 18 rebounds in the victory. Wallin followed that up with 27 points and 13 rebounds in a 97-66 win over Amery. He went 21 of 34 from the field and averaged five assists and one and a half blocks over the two games.

Alana Zarneke, Kaukauna

The Kaukauna girls basketball team is 8-0 to start the year and was ranked fifth in Division 1 in the Week 3 WSN Coaches Poll. Zarneke has been lights out for the Galloping Ghosts so far. In an 86-70 win over Appleton East, the St. Cloud State commit had 30 points, eight steals and seven rebounds. Kaukauna then squared off with unbeaten and third ranked Hortonville and handed them a 70-59 loss. Zarneke once again led the Galloping Ghosts, scoring 15 points and adding 12 rebounds and six assists.
