Four athletes joined exclusive company as four-time state champions at the 2023 WIAA Individual Wrestling State Tournament on Saturday.

The 80th WIAA Individual Meet saw 42 boys wrestlers and 12 girls wrestlers earn titles at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Kaukauna's Greyson Clark finished his senior year unbeaten at 48-0, capturing the Division 1 title at 138 pounds. He also won it at 138 last season with previous titles at 113 pounds in 2021 and 106 pounds in 2020.

Rhett Koenig of Prairie du Chien captured the Division 2 crown at 138 pounds after winning the 132-pound title last year. He was a state champion at 113 pounds in 2021 and 106 pounds in 2020.

Kewaskum's Braeden Scoles won a third consecutive Division 2 championship at 160 pounds to go with a 145-pound title in 2020.

Finally, Brayden Sonnentag of Cadott claimed the D3 title at 132 pounds. He won last year at 126 pounds, in 2021 at 120 pounds, and in 2020 at 106 pounds.

A total of ten boys wrestlers finished unbeaten this season, with three wrestlers earning a third state title and nine more than won a second state championship. 

Of the 24 former state champions entering the 2023 WIAA state meet, 16 of them earned another championship medal. 

Fennimore and Dodgeville were the only schools to claim three boys state titles, while Badger was the lone school with a pair of girls winners.

For the first time, the girls wrestling state tournament was held in conjunction with the boys at the Kohl Center, as this marked the second girls wrestling championships. Six female wrestlers won second straight titles: De Pere sophomore Brooke Corrigan, Sun Prairie West senior Bopa Quintana, Florence/Niagara senior Caitlyn Kelley, Mineral Point senior Kylie Rule, New London sophomore Hailie Krueger, and Horicon sophomore Cyriana Reinwald.
