Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 1-7

Lucas Lendosky, Fennimore

Lendosky has been stellar on both the mound and at the plate all season for the Fennimore baseball team and that didn't change last week. The senior helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 week by hitting .450 from the plate. He had three doubles, ten RBIs and six runs scored. Lendosky also took the mound in three games over the week. First, he pitched five innings of the 5-4 win over Mineral Point. The UW-Stout commit allowed just one run on one hit with 12 strikeouts. Lendosky pitched two more innings in relief of two separate games and struck out four of the six batters he faced in those outtings.

Ellie Peterson, Northwestern

The Northwestern softball team had a busy week last week, having eight games in six days. Peterson was the busiest on the mound. The sophomore hurler pitched in seven of the eight games and went 5-2 in her outings. Peterson pitched 50 and 1/3 innings on the week and allowed just seven earned runs while striking out a whopping 75 batters. She was equally impressive from the plate, hitting .484 with four doubles, ten RBIs, five runs scores, a walk and three stolen bases.

Andrew Regnier, Waunakee

Regnier competed at the Myrhum Invite at Arrowhead on Saturday and took home a pair of individual titles while also anchoring a relay winning team. First, the senior runner won the 400 meter dash at the massive invite, winning with a time of 47.51 seconds. Regnier then won the 800 meter dash in a time of 1:55.00. Regnier then anchored the 4x400 meter relay team that won in 3:24.82. The Warriors finished seventh overall in the boys standings. Earlier in the week, Regnier won the 300 meter hurdles at the Waunakee quad in a time of 39.83.

Mason Schmidtke, Sheboygan North

Schmidtke is one of the top golfers in the state and proved that this past week. The senior golfer began his week by winning the Sheboygan County Invitational at Sheboygan Town & Country Golf Course. He shot a 67, which was six strokes better than second place. He then won medalist honors at the Fox River Classic Conference Mini-Meet #3 at Brown County Golf Course, shooting a 34, three strokes ahead of second. Schmidtke then competed in the MACC Fund Invitational at Erin Hills and though he didn't win, Schmidtke shot a 73 and finished tied for fourth.

Anabella Valdivia, Racine Horlick

The Racine Horlick girls soccer team won four matches this past week and Valdivia was a big reason why. The sophomore forward began her week by netting three goals and adding an assist in a 4-2 win over Kenosha Indian Trail. She followed that up with four goals and three assists in a 9-1 win over Racine Lutheran. Valdivia then added another hat trick and three assists in a 7-1 win over River Valley and finished her week with one goal and one assist in a 2-0 win over Lodi. For the week, Valdivia had 11 goals and 8 assists, accounting for 19 of the 22 goals scored by her team.
