Ithaca sophomore Sammy Clary has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of June 12-18 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.

There were 5,235 total votes this week. Clary topped all vote getters with 2,059 votes. Kiel's Taylor Schad came in second with 1,884 votes.

Clary was instrumental in Ithaca posting two comeback, walk-off wins and winning the WIAA Baseball Division 4 State Championship. First in the 4-3, nine-inning semifinal win over Edgar, Clary pitched seven shutout innings of relief to earn the win on the mound. He struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits over the seven innings pitched. At the plate he went hitless, but recorded a walk. More importantly, Clary hit the walk-off sac fly RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it. Clary again did not collect a hit in the championship game, but affected it regardless. Down 7-1 in the sixth inning, Clary walked and eventually scored in the frame. In the seventh inning, the Bulldogs were down 7-4. Clary hit a sac fly, driving in the first of four runs that scored to capture the Bulldogs title.
