Football Week 1 Prep Props: State's Top Performances

Prep Props - Week 1

Prep Props is our weekly look at the best individual statistical performances in the state, with the leaders in rushing yards, passing yards, and receiving yards. Prep Props is published every Monday morning, and for players to be included, coaches must enter game stats by 8 am on Monday.

Coaches, if you do not have access or need assistance entering stats info, please contact us ASAP. Players, parents, and fans, if you do not see your favorite player's stats here, please encourage your team's coach to enter stats info on WSN by the weekly deadline.

Week 1 Rushing Leaders

Neenah christened its new high school and football field with an impressive 49-37 victory over De Pere last Thursday night. Junior running back Grant Dean was all over place, rushing for 282 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries. He also returned a kickoff for an 88-yard touchdown and had eight tackles on the defensive side of the ball for the Rockets.

Week 1 Passing Leaders

Freedom scored early and often, pulling away from Waupaca for a 47-28 victory on Friday night to open the 2023 season. Junior Drew Kortz had a monster game in his first career start, completing 20-of-28 passes for 430 yards and seven touchdowns. Kortz also led the Irish with 60 rushing yards.

Week 1 Receiving Leaders

Kaukauna put a running clock on Ashwaubenon to open the season, going up 42-0 in the third quarter before cruising home for a 42-14 win. The Galloping Ghosts had 430 yards of offense, including a big day from the passing game. Senior Nolan Hall did most of the damage outside, catching seven passes for 215 yards and a touchdown, averaging 31 yards per catch.
