Week 4 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Appleton East Patriots

Appleton East has made some big strides this season, including some very close, tough losses to Menasha and Neenah earlier this year. The Patriots broke out in a big way in Week 4, defeating Oshkosh North in a running clock 42-7. Brandon Moua ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries, as the team rolled up 252 yards overall. Quarterback Alex Thompson completed just three passes, but all three went for touchdowns to Cameron Scott, who also had an interception on defense.

Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts

Kaukauna remained unbeaten and made a big statement as a legit FVA contender with a 16-9 win over Neenah Friday night. the Ghosts defense picked off three Neenah passes while the offense did enough to get the job done, posting 152 yards on the ground on 41 carries while Finnley Doriot threw for 142 yards. Osvaldo Soto Sanchez booted a 35-yard field goal to provide some breathing room in the second quarter.

Onalaska Hilltoppers

Onalaska got off to a slow start this year but the Hilltoppers have won two straight, including a big showdown with La Crosse Central on Friday. Onalaska scored with nine seconds left when Adam Skifton found Isaac Skemp in the end zone, and won it on a two-point conversion pass from Skifton to Skemp for a 29-28 victory. Skifton finished with 220 yards and four touchdowns in the game, as Brodie Mickschl caught 10 passes for 138 yards and three scores.

Sparta Spartans

Sparta upset Tomah 21-20 in the 117th meeting between the teams, holding off a last second potential game-winning two-point conversion try from the Timberwolves. Sparta led 21-7 heading into the fourth quarter, and held off a late charge from Tomah. Thomas Laufenberg threw for 124 yards and a score on just three pass completions, adding 40 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Brennan Otten returned the second half kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown in what proved to be a pivotal play.

Sun Prairie East Cardinals

Sun Prairie East lost back-to-back games to highly-ranked Mukwonago and Waunakee, and the Cardinals faced another tough opponent in Week 4 with D2 sixth-ranked Beaver Dam coming to town. Sun Prairie East jumped out early and held on in a 34-19 victory. The Cardinals led 17-0 after the first quarter, and despite a fourth quarter scare from the Golden Beavers, added an insurance score when Brady Kaufman went in from 16 yards out. Kaufman finished with 147 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Drew Kavanaugh threw for 150 yards and a score. The defense picked off Beaver Dam three times, including two by Luke Damm.
