The Jolly Good Football Player of the Week is ready to go for 2023. Voting is featured at the bottom of this article. Voting is open until Thursday at 2 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word (hint: Social Media is a great way to do so). Users may vote once per day.

Jolly Good Week 7 Player of the Week Nominees

Matt Buckman, Cambridge

Cambridge upset Marshall 44-22 on Friday night, handing Marshall its first loss of the season and the first conference defeat for the Cardinals in 23 games. Cambridge quarterback Matt Buckman threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-28 passing, with another 31 yards on the ground. He added a couple tackles on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Christian Collins, Notre Dame

Notre Dame took control of the FRCC-South race with a 42-14 win over Menasha in a battle of previously unbeaten teams in conference play. The Tritons dominated throughout, especially on the ground, going for 360 rushing yards. The bulk of that went to junior Christian Collins, who carried the ball 24 times for 306 yards and three touchdowns, with a 41-yard reception to his name as well.

Ben Fritsch, Port Washington

In the Kwik Trip and Wisconsin Dairy Game of the Week, Port Washington was too much for host Plymouth, as the Pirates scored a 35-7 victory in the battle of unbeatens. Ben Fritsch was nearly flawless, completing 7-of-7 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns with a team-high 115 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. He also had an interception on defense and returned punts before cramping late in the game.

Alex Haines, Oconto Falls

Oconto Falls remained unbeaten in the Northwoods Conference, winning a 78-42 shootout against Clintonville. Alex Haines put up one of the top rushing performances of the season, carrying the ball 27 times for 429 yards and six touchdowns. The Panthers did not complete a pass in the game, rushing for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns as a team. Haines added two interceptions on defense.

Sam Hemery, Green Bay West

In the 118th meeting in the historic rivalry between Green Bay East and Green Bay West that has been played every year since 1905, West scored its first win of the season, 41-28 over the Red Devils. West junior Sam Hemery put together a second straight outstanding performance, completing 15-of-20 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns, adding 61 yards and one touchdown on the ground. He also had an interception on defense for the Wildcats.
