The Jolly Good Football Player of the Week is ready to go for 2023. Voting is featured at the bottom of this article. Voting is open until Thursday at 2 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word (hint: Social Media is a great way to do so). Users may vote once per day.

Jolly Good Level 1 Player of the Week Nominees

Colton Brunell, Columbus

Brunell broke the state's career rushing record on Friday night when he went for 27 yards late in a 49-0 Columbus victory over Brodhead/Juda. With 235 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries in the victory, Brunell now has 6,985 career yards, which eclipses the previous record of 6,932 yards set in 2019 by Racine Lutheran's Tyler Tenner.

Sawyer Hardesty, Mayville

Mayville lost a competitive game to Winnebago Lutheran to open the conference schedule, and the Cardinals got a second chance against the Vikings to begin the playoffs. Eighth-seeded Mayville took down top-seed Winnebago Lutheran 36-25 in the rematch, as sawyer Hardesty scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to help put the game away. He finished with 161 yards and four touchdowns on 31 tough carries, adding a 13-yard reception as well.

Brady Immel, Winneconne

Sixth-seeded Winneconne trailed Berlin 14-0 in the first quarter but rallied with 35 consecutive points to beat the third-seeded Indians 35-20 in a Division 4 playoff game. Quarterback Brady Immel helped engineer the comeback with 238 yards and three touchdowns through the air, completing 16-of-22 passes. Immel also ran for 63 yards on ten carries.

Drew Kavanaugh, Sun Prairie East

Sun Prairie East had quite a battle with Hartford to open the playoffs, and the game was tied at 31 into the fourth quarter. Drew Kavanaugh connected with Connor Stauff for a touchdown to help lift the Cardinals to a 38-31 win. Kavanaugh found Stauff for four touchdowns and finished with five passing scores total, completing 12-of-20 passes for 295 yards. He added 40 rushing yards as well.

Cal Moreau, Monona Grove

Monona Grove went on the road and scored a 28-15 win over Nicolet in a Division 3 playoff game. The Silver Eagles trailed 15-0 at the end of the first quarter before Cal Moreau found Isaiah Erb for a 32-yard touchdown to get the team on the board. Moreau would add two more touchdowns to Erb in the third quarter to pull the sixth-seeded Silver Eagles ahead. He finished with 307 yards and three touchdowns on 23-of-35 passing to go with 57 rushing yards.
