Waunakee vs Kaukauna at Ripon

Waunakee hasn't really been challenged this season, with a 30-7 victory over Notre Dame in a non-conference game the closest result the Warriors have had all year. They've won every game via running clock in the playoffs, including a 49-13 decision over New Richmond last week. Kaukauna has been well-tested in the FVA this year, including a win over Kimberly earlier in the season. The Ghosts got a couple pretty tough games to open the playoffs but didn't have much trouble with Cedarburg last week in a 42-13 victory that ended in a running clock. The Ghosts offense only put up 234 yards of offense, but they scored on a pair of interception returns plus a kickoff return.

Sun Prairie East vs Badger at Oconomowoc HS

Our thoughts go out to Badger head coach Matt Hensler, who left the Badgers' 28-7 win over defending state champion Kettle Moraine in the fourth quarter with a medical issue, as he remains hospitalized and recovering this weekend. The Badgers are into the state semi-finals for the fourth time in his tenure (2012, 2015, 2016) but still looking for that elusive first state title game appearance. Sun Prairie East rallied this season from a couple early losses to get to Level 4 after a Level 3 trip in its inaugural season as a split program in 2022. Sun Prairie East running back Brady Kaufman had a career game last week with 244 rushing yards on just 17 carries.

Rice Lake vs Notre Dame at Marshfield HS

Rice Lake has scored at least 50 points in each playoff game to this point, including a 58-36 victory over Onalaska last week that saw the Warriors roll up 454 yards of offense, 359 of which came on the ground. They get a Notre Dame squad that rallied to defeat Mount Horeb/Barneveld last week, 26-21. Christian Collins continued his big junior season with 261 yards and three touchdowns.

Aquinas vs Horicon/Hustisford at Wisconsin Dells HS

It has certainly been a different path to the state semi-finals for these two teams. Horicon/Hustsford comes out of the upset bracket in Group D that saw the #1 and #2 seeds go down in Level 1. The third-seeded MarshFalcons have not faced a team seeded ahead of them yet in the playoffs, as their three opponents have 14 combines losses this season. Aquinas is the two-time defending state champion and the Blugolds were placed in the strongest group in Division 5. After downing New Glarus/Monticello, Aquinas defeated Metro Classic co-champ Watertown Luther Prep then knocked off defending Division 4 state champion Columbus last week.

Grantsburg vs Stratford at Chippewa Falls HS

Stratford is the defending state champion in Division 6, as the only loss for the Tigers this year was against rival Edgar way back in Week 2 of the regular season. Grantsburg has been one of the most dominating teams in the playoffs, winning all three games in a running clock, including a 61-20 decision over Cameron last week.
