Level 3 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

Aquinas Blugolds

In a titanic matchup between state champs, Aquinas came back in the fourth quarter to score a 20-13 win over Columbus. The two-time defending state champion Blugolds went ahead in the fourth quarter when Brady Lehnerr powered in from two yards out. David Malin ran for a team-high 156 yards, including a 96-yard touchdown in the second quarter, while Kyle White added 113 yards on the ground as well.

Badger Badgers

Badger went on the road and controlled things from the start in a 28-7 victory over defending Division 2 state champion and top-ranked Kettle Moraine on Friday night. The powerful Badger rushing game churned out 271 yards, while J.P. Doyle hit a big play on a 76-yard touchdown to Matthew O'Grady in the first half. The Badgers jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and never looked back. Our thoughts are with Badger head coach Matt Hensler, who left the game with a medical issue in the fourth quarter and remained in the hospital over the weekend.

Black Hawk/Warren (IL) Warriors

Black Hawk/Warren (IL) lost to Potosi/Cassville 41-20 back in late September. The script was flipped in a big way in Level 3, as the Warriors scored a running clock victory over Potosi/Cassville this time around, 36-0. The defense dominated, limiting the Chieftains to just 121 total yards, as Andrew Figi recorded three interceptions as well. The Warriors offense rolled up 348 rushing yards, led by big games from Lane Marty and Owen Seffrood.

Horicon/Hustisford MarshFalcons

Horicon/Hustisford advanced to the state semi-finals with a 21-7 victory over Lake Country Lutheran on Friday night. The MarshFalcons fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter but scored just before halftime to tie the game, then tacked on touchdowns in the third quarter and the fourth quarter. Alex Davis ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns while Carter Schwartz hit Andrew Maas for the other Horicon/Hustisford touchdown. A win next week over Aquinas would get the co-op program to the state championship for the first time and be the first state finals trip for either school.

Saint Croix Falls Saints

On September 8th, Saint Croix Falls fell 26-7 to Northwestern, a run of four consecutive losses for the Saints to open the 2023 season. On November 3rd, Saint Croix Falls beat Northwestern 46-18 to earn its eighth consecutive victory. It's been quite a run for the Saints, and it is still going. Aiden Meador had a huge game on Friday, carrying the ball 38 times for 210 yards and four touchdowns, adding an interception on defense.
