Aquinas running back Kyle White had a big game in leading the Blugolds to a third straight title

Aquinas rattled off 32 unanswered points and rolled up nearly 400 rushing yards in a 32-13 win over Wrightstown in the Division 5 state championship game, claiming a third consecutive title.

Wrightstown got on the board first, as the Tigers took advantage of a fumble by Aquinas to go up 7-0 less than two minutes into the game when Aiden Humphreys ran in from four yards out. Three minutes later, Wrightstown tacked on another score when Trevor Vande Hey kept it for a 59-yard touchdown to go up 13-0 midway through the first quarter.

Aquinas didn't panic, and answered a couple minutes later when Brady Lehnherr powered in from three yards out on fourth and one.

It was Lehnherr who helped put Aquinas on top when he scored from four yards out early in the second quarter, with the two-point conversion giving the Blugolds a 16-13 lead.

David Malin went in from nine yards out as Aquinas pushed its advantage to 24-13 at halftime. A 59-yard run by Kyle White in the third quarter added some insurance for the Blugolds.

White ran for 240 yards and a touchdown on 32 attempts. It was part of a big rushing day for Aquinas, who ran up 378 yards as a team, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. That team total set a new Division 5 record.

Aquinas adds to its trophy case with a third consecutive Division 5 state championship, joining a D5 gold ball the Blugolds won in 2007.
