Reedsburg senior Sydney Cherney has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of November 20-26 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 4,836 total votes this week. Cherney topped all vote getters with 2,159 votes. Pewaukee's Amy Terrian came in second with 1,403 votes.

Cherney is one of the top scorers in the entire state of Wisconsin and proved that point in Reedsburg's second game of the 2023-24 girls basketball season. The Grand Valley State commit set a school record in points scored in a game in the Beaver's 77-58 win over Stoughton last Tuesday. Cherney scored 52 points, almost outscoring the Vikings herself. The 5'10" guard added 15 rebounds, six steals and four assists. 

This week, Cherney etched herself in the Reedsburg record books. In a 58-34 win over Tomah, the Grand Valley State recruit scored 32 points and became the program's all-time scoring leader with 1,786 points.
