Athlete of the Week Nominees: December 4-10

Zach Behn, Kewaskum

Behn had a week to remember as he aided the Kewaskum boys basketball squad to a pair of victories. First in a 94-74 win over North Fond du Lac, the 6'7" junior combo forward scored a career high 42 points. That output also set a program record for points in a game. Behn added 12 rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal in the victory. Behn followed that up with a game high 17 points in a tight 47-40 win over East Central foe Winneconne.

Drew Daoust, Southern Door

The Southern Door boys basketball team played just one game this past week, but Daoust had one of the best scoring games in the state early on this season. The 6'2" sophomore poured in a school record 53 points in a 93-49 win over Sevastopol. Daoust connected on eight threes in the victory and added eight rebounds, six steals and one block.

Emma Kligora, Milton

Kligora suits up for the Rock County Fury girls hockey team and is currently leading the state in scoring according to Wisconsin Prep Hockey. In a pair of blow outs last week, she accounted for four goals in each game. First in an 8-1 win over the Icebergs, she netted two goals on two shots and assisted on another two. The senior forward then had another two goals and two assists in a 7-3 win over the Badger Lightning. For the season, Kligora has netted 14 goals and assisted on another eight, scoring 22 points total.

Jersey Polencheck, Butternut

Polencheck led Butternut to a pair of wins this past weekend, improving the team's record to 3-2. Both games came against Northern Lights Conference opponents, the first being a 55-49 win over Lac Courte Oreilles. In the win the senior guard had a game high 25 points while filling the stat sheet with seven steals, six rebounds and six assists. She then scored a personal high 43 points in a 60-46 win over Mellen as she went seven of eleven from beyond the arc. Polencheck added five rebounds, four steals and two assists in the win.

Taylor Stremlow, Verona

Stremlow is a stat sheet stuffer for one of the best teams in the state, the Verona girls basketball squad. This past week she exemplified that nearly recording a quadruple-double in one game while recording a triple-double in the other. In a 66-36 win over Madison Memorial, the Iowa commit did a lot of everything. She scored nine points but added nine rebounds, nine assists and eight steals, coming just four statistics away from the quadruple-double. The Division 1, fourth-ranked Wildcats then traveled to McFarland to take on the Division 2, third-ranked Spartans on Saturday. Stremlow again was exceptional. She recorded a triple-double with 16 points, ten rebounds and ten assists in the 67-55 victory.
