Below are the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week Nominees for this week. Voting is open until Thursday at 2:00 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Athlete of the Week Nominees: January 1-7

Hailee Bauer, Lourdes Academy

Bauer had a pair of 20-point games to start 2024, a week after ending the 2023 year by surpassing the 1,000 point mark in her prep career. This past Tuesday, Lourdes blew past Dodgeland 83-23. Bauer finished with 20 points, ten steals, four assists and four rebounds. The 5'7" junior then had another 20 point game and a memorable moment in Lourdes' 57-56 win over Oakfield. With nine seconds and down one, Bauer took the ball full court and scored the game-winning layup. She finished with six assists, five steals and two rebounds to go along with her 20 points.

Owen Dickman, Antigo

Dickman was spectacular as the Antigo boys hockey team picked up a trio of wins to open up 2024. In a 6-4 win over Pacelli, the junior forward netted a hat trick and assisted on two more. He followed that up with three more goals and an assist in a 5-3 victory over Northland Pines. Dickman finished his week on fire with four more goals in a 5-4 win over Milton. Over three games in 2024, Dickman netted ten goals and assisted on three more.

Dupree Fletcher Jr., Carmen Northwest

Fletcher Jr. is one of the top 15 players in the Class of 2024 in the entire state and Carmen Northwest is ranked fourth in the Division 3 in the WSN Coaches Poll. Northwest picked up three more wins this past week as Fletcher Jr. was exceptional. He began the week with 25 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 77-61 win over Milwaukee King. The Grambling State commit then had 38 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 99-94 win over Milwaukee Hamilton. Fletcher Jr. finished the opening week of 2024 with 36 points, five assists and three rebounds in a 93-90 win over Racine Park. 

Brooks Hinson, Marshfield

Hinson helped the Marshfield boys basketball team improve to 11-1 on the season with a pair of wins to open up the 2024 calendar year. First in a 70-34 win over Rhinelander, Hinson led all scorers with 28 points on 12 of 15 shooting. He added four rebounds and an assist while shooting 4 of 7 from deep. Hinson then willed his team to an 88-80 win over Brookfield Central on Saturday. The 6'2" junior wing scored a team high 34 points, shooting 10 of 15 from the field and 8 of 10 from deep. He added four rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

Addison Schliewe, Sheboygan Falls

Schliewe filled the stat sheet this past week in a pair of wins for the undefeated Sheboygan Falls girls basketball team. She started with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, four blocks and three steals in a 77-36 win over Roncalli. The 6'3" junior then had a game high 31 points in an 85-51 win over Kohler. She added ten rebounds, eight blocks, five steals and four assists. Over the two games, Schliewe averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, six blocks, five assists and four steals, stuffing the stat sheet.
