Triple Threat Athlete of the Week: Amanda Heusterberg, Shoreland Lutheran

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an honor given on WisSports.net to the top senior boys and girls three-sport athletes in the state. Players are recognized each week on WSN, with a boys and girls winner of the Pat Richter Award at the end of the season to the best three-sport athlete of the year.

The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is presented by the U.S. Marine Corps. The award recognizes student athletes who embody the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline across multiple sports. The mission of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Milwaukee is to find qualified men and women in Wisconsin and the surrounding area interested in becoming a United States Marine. Marines maintain the legacy of the Marine Corps by winning our nations battles and returning to their communities as quality citizens whether they are active duty or reservist. The coveted title of Marine applies only to those who graduate from the Recruit Depots or Officer Candidate School. RS Milwaukee will provide any qualified man or woman the opportunity to attend the training required to become a Marine - Enlisted or Officer.

Volleyball Honors: Three-year letter-winner for coach Kara Kassulke and the Pacers... first-team all-Metro Classic as a senior... second-team all-league as a junior... finished career in Pacers top 10 for sets played, points, serve percentage, attack attempts, kills, and blocks... 

Basketball Honors: Four-year letter-winner for coach Holly Bahr and the Pacers... honorable mention all-Metro Classic as a sophomore... second-team all-conference as a junior... the 6-0 wing/forward is averaging 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game for the 10-8 Pacers... currently third in program history with 1,255 points... top 10 in team history for points, rebounds, assists, field goals attempted, field goals made, three-point attempts, three-point makes, free throw attempts, and free throws made... 

Softball Honors: Enters her senior year as a two-year letter-winner for coach Kelly Hill and the Pacers.

Soccer Honors: Varsity letter-winner as a freshman.

Favorite Sport (and why): "My favorite sport is basketball because it gives me an escape from reality, and I just really love it. I love my coaches, teammates, managers, and I love the competition."

Best Part of High School Sports (and why): "The best part of high school sports is the team comradery and the relationships formed through playing together."

Best Advice from a High School Coach: "The best advice I have gotten from a coach is from my current coach, Holly Bahr, 'play within yourself'."

Most Memorable Moment in High School Sports: "The most memorable moment in high school sports was winning regional champs for volleyball two years ago and last year, and conference champs last year and this year."

Best Part of Playing Three Sports: The best part of playing three sports is always being active and part of a team. It’s fun to switch from sport to sport, make new friendships, and have different competition."

Most Difficult Part of Playing Three Sports: "The most difficult part of playing three sports is never really having a break. Once one sport ends, another sport begins. My knees can’t take much more."

Favorite Opponent (and why): My favorite opponent for volleyball is either Racine Lutheran or St. Thomas More because it’s a pretty equal competition. My favorite opponent for basketball and soccer is (Kenosha) St. Joseph's for the same reason. My favorite opponent for softball is Racine Lutheran."

Favorite Professional Team: "My favorite professional teams are the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and Milwaukee Bucks."

Favorite Athlete: Caitlin Clark

Cumulative GPA: 3.8

Most Admired High School Teammate (and why): "My most admired high school teammate is Julia Heathcock. I have looked up to her since grade school, and we have played sports our whole lives together."

College Plans: "I plan on attending Concordia University to major in Graphic Design."

Activities Outside of Sports: "I like to go to the gym, watch Netflix, eat, hang with friends, and eat some more."

Favorite TV Show: Stranger Things

Favorite Movie: Five Feet Apart or Free Guy

Favorite Musical Artist: Tate McRae or Ruel

Favorite Subject: Graphic Design or Weightlifting

Favorite Restaurant: "Dairy Queen, specifically the chicken tender basket with a chocolate brownie extreme blizzard."

Other Family Members: "My mom, my dad, my twin brother (member of state championship soccer team this year), my little sister, and my pet hamster, Poot!"
