WBCA announces Division 5 Girls Basketball All-State Team

The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division 5 All-State Team is headlined by two-time selections Alana Durtschi of Albany/Monticello and Sarah Shaw of Assumption. 

Durtschi led Albany/Monticello (27-3) to the Division 5 state championship. The 5-8 guard averaged 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 3.1 steals per game for coach Derik Doescher and the Albany/Monticello co-op. Alana also shot 45-for-110 from 3-point land. She finishes her career with 1,257 career points, helping lead her teams to a 97-12 record. 

Shaw led Assumption (26-3) to a sectional final. The 5-6 guard tallied 15.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 7.0 steals per game for coach Ryan Klein and the Royals. Shaw has compiled 353 steals through her first three years and led the entire state in steals per game this season. Sarah has helped Assumption to a 77-11 in her first three seasons. 

Hailee Bauer, an honorable mention pick last season, helped lead Lourdes Academy (23-4) to a sectional appearance. She averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.2 steals per contest for coach ​​Ali Starr and the Knights. Bauer also knocked down 81 three-pointers. She has helped the Knights to a 64-16 record and will enter her senior year with 1,361 career points. 

Eva Brooks led Lena (28-3) to a state runner-up finish in the program’s first state tournament appearance since 1991. The 6-1 forward averaged 19.8 points, 12.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 steals, and 3.3 blocks per game for coach Tim Goldschmidt and the Wildcats. Brooks will enter her senior year with 1,153 career points. Lena has a 63-20 record over her first three seasons. 

Kylie Butler helped lead Argyle/Pecatonica (26-2) to the WIAA state tournament in its first season as a co-op. The 5-7 point guard averaged 22.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 steals per contest for coach Jen Wellnitz-Krogman and the Argyle/Pecatonica co-op. Butler also connected on 46 three-pointers. She will enter her junior season with 1,050 career points. 

Sophia Coker, an honorable mention selection last season, helped Athens (18-10) reach sectional play. The forward averaged 20.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game for coach Kyncaide Keefe and the Fighting Bluejays. Coker finishes her career with 1,364 points and 1,031 rebounds. 

Izabel Durst of Barneveld joins the first team after earning honorable mention recognition last season. The 5-7 guard tallied 14.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 steals per game for coach Bill Freidig and the Golden Eagles (12-14). Durst will enter her junior year with 718 career points. 

Marah Gruen, an honorable mention selection last season, led Royall (25-3) to an appearance in sectional play. The 5-7 point guard averaged 20.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 4.6 steals per contest for coach Andrew Dahlen and the Panthers. Gruen ends her career with 1,663 points, 1,040 rebounds, 530 assists, and 447 steals, leading Royall to an 84-20 record. 

Emmalee Mann helped lead Cochrane-Fountain City (25-2) to a sectional final. The 5-6 point guard averaged 16.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.7 steals per contest for coach ​​Rick Peterson and the Pirates. Mann also shot 41-for-188 from 3-point land. The NCAA Division III St. Mary’s, Minnesota recruit finishes her career with 1,036 points, helping the Pirates to a 62-16 record over the last three years. 

Mackenzie Tarman, an honorable mention selection last season, led Turtle Lake (19-9) to a sectional appearance. The 6-0 guard tallied 23.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 4.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game for coach Keefe Tarman and the Lakers. Mackenzie also knocked down 61 three-pointers. She ends her career with 1,971 points and 808 rebounds. 

Jadeyn Zdroik led Pacelli (24-2) to a regional final. The 5-10 wing/forward averaged 18.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 4.8 steals per game as a freshman for coach Allison Smaglik and the Cardinals.
