WBCA announces Division 1 Girls Basketball All-State Team

The 2024 WBCA Division 1 All-State Team is headlined by four-time first-team selection Allie Ziebell of Neenah. 

Three others were repeat selections: Shae Kelley of Brookfield East, Taylor Stremlow of Verona, and Rainey Welson of Hortonville. 

Ziebell, the 2024 Ms. Basketball award-winner, led Neenah (24-6) to a state runner-up finish in the program’s first state tournament appearance since 2009. The 6-0 guard averaged 27.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game for coach Andy Braunel and the Rockets. Allie made a state-high 122 three-pointers while shooting 44.9 percent from behind the arc. She finishes her career with 2,819 points (4th all-time), 859 rebounds, 347 assists, 256 steals, and 363 three-pointers made, leading Neenah to an 87-21 record. 

Kelley led Brookfield East to a sectional final and a 23-5 overall record. The 5-10 point guard tallied 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 5.9 steals per game for coach Tyler Saxton and the Spartans. Shae also made 49 three-pointers. Kelley, who holds Division I offers, finished her career with 1,457 points, 628 rebounds, 457 assists, and 567 steals. She helped lead Brookfield East to a 90-21 record with two state tournament appearances, finishing as the state runner-up in 2023. 

Stremlow led Verona to sectionals and a 26-1 overall record. The 5-10 point guard averaged 18.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 9.2 assists (led the state), and 5.8 steals per game for coach Lexy Richardson and the Wildcats. Stremlow ended her career with 1,028 points. The Ms. Basketball finalist led Verona to a 79-14 record with a trip to the state tournament as a freshman. Taylor, who missed her sophomore year due to injury, earned honorable mention all-state as a freshman. 

Welson helped lead Hortonville to a sectional final and a 22-6 overall record. The 5-10 guard averaged 23.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for coach A.C. Clouthier and the Polar Bears. Rainey also shot 84-for-198 from behind the arc. The Maryland recruit has compiled 1,624 points, 325 rebounds, 276 assists, and 198 steals in her career, helping lead Hortonville to a 71-12 record with a trip to the state tournament in 2023. 

Claire Bjorge led De Pere to a regional final and a 19-7 overall record. The 5-8 guard tallied 20.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game for coach Jeremy Boileau and the Redbirds. Claire also made 68 of 172 from 3-point land. The NCAA Division II Minnesota Duluth recruit finishes her career with 1,271 points. Bjorge, who missed her junior season recovering from an ACL injury, earned honorable mention all-state as a sophomore. 

Reagan Briggs, an honorable mention selection last season, helped Verona (26-1) reach sectional play. The 5-9 guard tallied 26 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest for coach Richardson and the Wildcats. Reagan also shot 72-for-192 from 3-point land. The NCAA Division II St. Cloud State recruit finished her career with 1,657 points, helping Verona to a 79-14 record and a state tournament appearance in 2021. 

Makena Christian, an honorable mention selection last season, led Hartford (26-3) to its first state tournament appearance since 2000. The 6-0 guard averaged 25.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game for coach Vinny Daniels and the Orioles. Makena also connected on 76 of 200 from behind the arc. Through her first three seasons, the Minnesota recruit has 1,896 points, 761 rebounds, 198 assists, and 182 steals, leading Hartford to a 57-24 record.  

Madison Fitzgibbon, an honorable mention choice last year, led Homestead to a regional final and a 20-6 overall record. The 5-7 guard tallied 17.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game for coach Corey Wolf and the Highlanders. Madison also connected on 73 of 201 from 3-point land. The UW-Milwaukee recruit has compiled 1,483 points and 241 steals with 240 three-pointers made through her junior season, helping lead Homestead to a 64-14 record. 

Natalie Kussow, an honorable mention pick last season, led Arrowhead (27-3) to its first state championship since 1991. The 5-11 guard averaged 23.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.9 steals per contest for coach Ron Reichle and the Warhawks. Natalie also shot 82-for-205 from behind the arc. Kussow, who holds several Division I offers and is one of the top sophomores in the state, will enter her junior season with 1,217 points, 397 rebounds, 100 assists, and 166 steals while helping lead Arrowhead to a 50-8 record. 

Kate McGinnis helped lead Kimberly to sectionals and a 23-4 overall record. The 5-10 guard tallied 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for coach David Lepisto and the Papermakers. Kate also went 73-for-200 on three-pointers. The NCAA Division I Belmont recruit has compiled 987 points and connected on 172 triples through her first three seasons, helping Kimberly to a 54-27 record. 

Mikayla Werner helped Hortonville (22-6) reach a sectional final. The 6-0 wing/forward averaged 11.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game for coach Clouthier and the Polar Bears. The NCAA Division I St. Thomas, Minnesota recruit finished her career with 908 points and 677 rebounds, helping Hortonville to an 88-21 record with a trip to the Resch Center in 2023. 

Alayna West led Madison La Follette to a 12-10 record. The 5-9 guard averaged 22.1 points, 13 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.8 steals per contest for coach Will Green and the Lancers. West, a DePaul recruit, compiled 1,378 points, 826 rebounds, 229 assists, and 263 steals in her three-year varsity career.
