WBCA announces Division 4 Boys Basketball All-State team

Eric Kenesie of Kenosha St. Joseph, Tyson Lucas of Cameron and Grant Warren of Marathon are repeat selections on the WBCA All-State squad among players who compete at the WIAA Division 4 level.

Kenesie, a 6-foot-1 point guard, helped St. Joseph to a 20-10 record and a runner-up finish in the WIAA Division 4 State Tournament for the second year in a row. His ability to handle the ball, make pinpoint passes and score were huge factors in the Lancers' success. Kenesie averaged 24.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals and finished his prep career with more than 1,500 points.

Lucas (6-1) helped Cameron to the Heart O'North Conference title and a 25-3 record. The Player of the Year in the league averaged 19.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He made 68 three-point baskets and wound up his prep career with 1,560 points.

Warren (6-10) was named Player of the Year in the Marawood South Conference in each of the past two seasons. He helped the Red Raiders of Marathon to a 27-2 record, the league title and a spot in the WIAA Division 4 State Tournament. A NCAA Division II recruit for Michigan Tech, Warren averaged 21.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Logan Bahr (6-7) of Luther, the winner of the WIAA's three-point contest, helped the Knights to a 19-7 record a year after starting for a team that won the D4 state title. The UW-La Crosse recruit averaged 23.4 points and 10.8 rebounds as a senior. He also connected on 85-of-170 tries from three-point range for 50 percent.

Walter Berns (6-4) earned first-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference recognition and scored more than 1,000 career points for Aquinas. As a senior, the bouncy Berns helped the Blugolds to a 23-6 record and a spot in the Division 4 State Tournament by averaging 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Junior LaTrevion Fenderson (6-5) earned a spot on the first-team all-league squad in the highly competitive Metro Classic Conference. One of the state's top class of 2025 prospects, Fenderson owns scholarship offers from Milwaukee and Wisconsin. He averaged 21.7 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists during the 2023-24 season.

Gavin Gores (6-9) had a big season for Cumberland, averaging 28.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. His ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting has attracted scholarship offers from Green Bay, Loyola University in Maryland and South Dakota State. Gores made 81 three-point shots and shot 51 percent from the field, 72 percent from the foul line and 38 percent from three-point range.

Trent Grunewald (6-3) of Howards Grove was chosen as the Player of the Year in the Big East North Conference after helping the Tigers to the league title. He averaged 19.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. The physically strong and mentally tough wing prospect made 73-of-184 tries from three-point range for 40 percent.

Dooney Johnson (6-4) is regarded as the state's top freshman and he had a big debut season for Milwaukee Juneau. The co-Player of the Year in the Blue Division of the Milwaukee City Conference along with Isiah Woodland of Audubon Technology, Johnson averaged 24.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals for the Pioneers. He already owns NCAA Division I scholarship offers from a number of schools.

Will Murray (6-7) helped Darlington to yet another huge season. He averaged 18.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists while leading the Redbirds to a share of the SWAL title with Mineral Point. Murray scored 1,399 career points for Darlington and was named co-Player of the Year in the conference along with Ladon Thousand of Mineral Point.

In addition to sharing league MVP honors with Murray, Thousand (6-2) helped Mineral Point to the Division 4 state championship, the first in school history. The heady lead guard averaged 15.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists as the Pointers finished 28-2 and beat Kenosha St. Joseph 65-64 in the D4 title game.
