Verona's Taylor Stremlow has been selected as the state's top senior point guard as part of the WSN Senior Basketball Awards.

Stremlow is a leader on both ends of the floor. She has strong handles, great court vision, and is an outstanding passer. Taylor also uses her length and athleticism to create havoc on defense.

She led Verona to a Division 1 sectional semifinal, falling to eventual state champion Arrowhead, ending the season with a 26-1 record.

Stremlow, a 5-10 point guard, averaged 18.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 9.2 assists (led the state), and 5.8 steals per game for coach Lexy Richardson and the Wildcats.

Taylor shot 56.1 percent from the floor and 74.7 from the free throw line while shooting 29-for-93 from 3-point land.

The University of Iowa recruit ended her career with 1,065 points, 600 rebounds, 562 assists, 377 steals, and 75 blocks.

Stremlow, a Ms. Basketball finalist, led Verona to a 79-14 record with a trip to the state tournament as a freshman.

She is a two-time Division 1 WBCA all-state selection. Taylor, who missed her sophomore year due to injury, earned honorable mention all-state as a freshman.

Stremlow was named Big Eight Player of the Year as a junior and senior.

The finalists for the award were Stremlow, Emily Cooper of McDonell Central, Trista Fayta of Notre Dame, Gracie Gopalan of Waupun, Sam Schmitt of Oregon, and Alayna West of Madison La Follette.

Past winners of the award include KK Arnold of Germantown (2023), Kamy Peppler of Hortonville (2022), Bailey Butler of Black Hawk (2021), Lexi Donarski of Aquinas (2020), Sydney Hilliard of Monroe (2019), Kari Brekke of Appleton North (2018), Cassidy Trotter of Beaver Dam (2017), Hannah Whitish of Barneveld (2016), Gabby Green of Pius XI (2015), Gabrielle Ortiz of The Prairie School (2014), Taylor Schmidt of Algoma (2013), and Nicole Bauman of New Berlin Eisenhower (2012).
