Cameron freshman Inez Schmidt has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of March 18-24 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 2,819 total votes this week. Schmidt topped all vote getters with 1,230 votes. Freedom's Lydia Merrick came in second with 970.

Inez stood out in her first high school track and field competition, competing at the Northern Badger Class Small Schools Meet at UW-Stout this past weekend. The freshman runner took home two individual crowns and was a part of a relay winning team as well. Inez won the 800-meter run by .08 seconds, winning with a time of 2:29.24. She then won the 1600-meter run in a time of 5:38.79, over four seconds behind the second place finisher. Finally, Inez was the second leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that won the event and set a meet record with a time of 4:19.97.
