Blair-Taylor's Randy Storlie is fifth on the state's boys basketball career coaching wins list
The end of the 2023-24 boys basketball season is in the rearview mirror, which means it is time to update the boys basketball coaching wins list record book.
Of the top 54 coaches in state history, 14 of them were active in 2023-24.
Of course, the state's winningest coach remains former Cuba City head man Jerry Petitgoue, who retired after last season. He finished his career with a total record of 1027-270, including a few years at now-defunct Gratiot High School.
Kimberly's Jon Murphy, who spent many years at Seymour, moves into second place, with a combined record of 668-219 after the Papermakers finished 17-9. That bumps former Racine St. Catherine's coach Bob Letsch (661-250) to third on the boys wins list.
Randy Storlie is the only other active coach in the top five with 646 victories at Taylor High School and now the combined Blair-Taylor.
Oostburg's Kevin Bruggink (535-210), Martin Luther's Paul Wollersheim (501-149), St. Ambrose's Chris Zwettler (489-321), Fall River's Arnie Oelke (488-388), Madison Memorial's Steve Collins (473-145), Spring Valley's Rob Bosshart (473-314), Middleton's Kevin Bavery (460-298), Kaukauna's Michael Schalow (459-242), Mineral Point's Dan Burreson (445-235), Almond-Bancroft's Curt Lamb (436-159), Prairie du Chien's Andy Banasik (434-310), and Green Bay NEW Lutheran's Mark Meerstein (430-375) are also active coaches in the 2023-24 season who make the list. Banasik recently announced he is stepping down at Prairie du Chien.
Records only include varsity wins at Wisconsin high schools as a boys' basketball coach.
