rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week: Kaden Russo, Elk Mound

Elk Mound senior Kaden Russo has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-14 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net. 

There were 4,009 total votes this week. Russo topped all vote getters with 1,317 votes. Waterford's Robbie Meyers came in second with 939.

Russo has started off his senior season strong for the Elk Mound baseball team. This past week, he was great from both the plate and the mound. Monday, in a 12-2 win over Glenwood City, the senior slugger went three for three from the plate with a home run and three RBIs. He added a walk, run scored, and stolen base. The Concordia-Wisconsin commit then took the mound against a strong Bloomer team and took home the win in the 7-5 victory. Russo pitched four innings, struck out nine, and allowed two runs on two hits. From the plate he went one for three with an RBI, walk, run scored, and stolen base. Russo finished his week off going one for three with another home run and two RBIs in a 5-0 win over Colfax. For the week, he had five hits, two home runs and six RBIs.

Earlier this week on Monday, Russo got the win on the mound in an 8-1 win over Mondovi. He pitched six and two-thirds innings, striking out thirteen batters and allowing one run on three hits. He added two hits, a run scored, and a stolen base offensively.
