By Travis Wilson

The 11th Annual WFCA Combine was held over the weekend, and full results are now available. The Combine was split into five sessions, though all athletes were tested on the same events. All events were held at NX Level Fitness in Waukesha. A total of 522 athletes competed in the Combine.

The WFCA Combine was conducted by NX Level staff with many high school football coaches assisting, and sponsored by the WFCA, NX Level, Epoch Recruiting, and WisSports.net. Special thank you to WFCA Combine Director Tony Biolo for organizing the event and compiling the results and Brad Arnett & crew at NX Level for administering the testing throughout the day. A huge shoutout to the many high school coaches who worked at the Combine.

All timing was done by the professionals from NX Level via hand-timing. Height and weight were measured in bare feet.

More than 80 college coaches were on hand from at least 31 different schools, with several programs sending multiple coaches to evaluate potential prospects. While D1-FBS coaches were prohibited from attending by NCAA rules, 11 D1-FCS coaches from nine different schools were in attendance and closely monitoring the action. The full list of colleges in attendance is available below.

COMBINE RECAP AND TOP PERFORMANCES

40-YARD DASH

There were some blistering times posted in the 40-yard dash Saturday afternoon, which was done via hand-timing by the professionals from NX Level.

Arrowhead Class of 2026 wide receiver Pres Bencz posted the fastest 40-yard dash time at the Combine, running it in 4.46 seconds. Oconomowoc 2025 DB Caeden Oppold and Appleton East 2025 RB Kyreese White shared the next fastest time in the 40 at 4.50 seconds. Milwaukee Academy of Science 2025 RB Josiah Johnson was next at 4.53 seconds.

A total of 22 athletes ran the 40-yard dash in less than 4.60 seconds, including ten that were tied at 4.56 seconds. The heaviest player of the group was Westosha Central 2025 linebacker Landon Taylor, who posted a time of 4.56 seconds while weighing in at 216 pounds while standing 5'11" in bare feet.

L-Drill

The L-Drill was again a part of the Combine, with many college coaches paying close attention to the event, which is a great measure of body lean, hip flexibility, and change-of-direction skills. A standout in all of the events, the top time was shared by Oshkosh West's Chase Brandl, a Class of 2025 quarterback who accounted for more than 1200 yards of offense last season, as well as Cuba City 2025 wide receiver Gavin Vaassen, with a time of 6.88 seconds.

Next up were Rice Lake 2025 running back Connor Durand and Wrightstown 2025 running back Aiden Humphreys with times of 6.90 seconds. All told, 11 players posted times below seven seconds.

Short Shuttle

The short shuttle or pro agility is another outstanding change-of-direction test, with athletes starting from a stop, running five yards in one direction, ten yards the other direction, and five yards back to the center. College coaches lined up around the testing locations all day, as it is one of the most beneficial events for seeing how players move, bend, and control their bodies.

In the Shuttle event, the top time went to Regis 2025 defensive back/athlete Evrett Tait with a mark of 4.16 seconds. Just behind was previously mentioned Landon Taylor of Westosha Central at 4.17 seconds. Two players ran 4.20 seconds in the short shuttle: Wrightstown's Aiden Humphreys and Kaukauna's Adam Canner.
