The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association has announced Coach of the Year and Coaching Achievement awards for the 2023-24 season.

Headlining the list were the High School Coach of the Year recipients.

The Mineral Point Pointers didn’t make it easy on head coach Dan Burreson, with a pair of heart-stopping finishes at the WIAA State Tournament, but the team claimed its first-ever title, capping a 28-2 season. Co-champions of the tough SWAL during the regular season, Mineral Point advanced to the second state tournament under Burreson. In one of the greatest comebacks in tournament history, the Pointers rallied from a seven-point deficit with 23 seconds left to beat Aquinas 62-61 when Landon Thousand buried a three-pointer for the win. In the Division 4 title game, it was nearly the other way around, with Mineral Point seeing a late lead slip away before Drew Aschliman scored on a put back with one second left to defeat Kenosha St. Joseph 65-64.

Jim Reuter helped Pewaukee get over the hump against nemesis Notre Dame, leading the Pirates girls basketball program to its first-ever state title. After back-to-back D2 state title game losses to the Tritons, Pewaukee opened the year with a 60-52 win over Notre Dame in a non-conference game. They would close the season in the same fashion, defeating Notre Dame 60-52 in the championship contest. The Pirates would finish 29-1 overall, winning the Woodland-West Conference title. The team was undefeated against in-state opponents, including a 19-point win over Division 1 champion Arrowhead. Four of the Pirates players earned All-State recognition under Reuter this season, including First Teamers Giselle Janowski and Amy Terrian, as well as Honorable Mention choices Anna Terrian and Kylie Pieper.
