WIAA Girls' Basketball Playoff Changes for 2024-25

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) has released girls' basketball divisional placement and sectional assignments for the 2024-25 season. 

Divisional Assignments and Cutlines
Division 1 - 73 schools with an enrollment of 1,200 or above 
Division 2 - 88 schools with an enrollment between 600 and 1,199
Division 3 - 94 schools (remaining teams split equally between D3 and D4) 
Division 4 - 90 schools (remaining teams split equally between D3 and D4) 
Division 5 - Smallest 128 schools 
Total: 473

Schools that were impacted by the Competitive Balance Plan for 2024-25:

Notre Dame and Pewaukee (defending D2 state champion) move up to Division 1; Waupun moves up to Division 2; Laconia (two-time defending D4 state champion) moves up to Divison 3 

The 2024 WIAA State Tournament is set for March 13-14-15 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Four teams advance to state in each of the five divisions.

Pewaukee (previously D2) 
Toughest Sectional: 2
Early Favorites by Sectional: Hortonville, Pewaukee, Arrowhead, Muskego 

D2 - 88 Teams 
Brookfield Central (previously D1)
Edgewood (previously D3)
Golda Meir (previously D3)
Waupun (previously D3)
Toughest Sectional: 4 
Early Favorites by Sectional: Lakeland, West De Pere, Edgewood, Wauwatosa East 

D3 - 94 Teams 
Fuller Collegiate Academy (previously in co-op with Milwaukee Washington) 
Laconia (previously D4) 
Milwaukee Washington (previously D2 in co-op with Fuller Collegiate Academy)
Seymour (previously D2)
Whitewater (previously D2)
Winnebago Lutheran (previously D4)
Toughest Sectional: 4
Early Favorites by Sectional: Elk Mound, Xavier, Laconia, Oostburg 

D4 - 90 Teams 
Aquinas (previously D3, chose to play up a division last season) 
Argyle /Pecatonica (previously D5) 
Clear Lake (previously D5) 
Hurley (previously D5) 
Lomira (previously D3)
Marion/Tigerton new co-op (both previously D5) 
Riverdale (previously D5)
