Below are the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week Nominees for this week. Voting is open until Thursday at 2:00 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 13-19

Anya Brenkman, Sugar River

Brenkman was all over the soccer pitch as the Sugar River co-op won four matches over this past week. Monday, in an 8-0 win over Columbus, the junior forward netted five goals of her own and assisted on one more. She then had two goals in an 8-0 win over Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld and one goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over Dodgeville/Mineral Point. Brenkman finished the week with accounting for both goals in the 2-0 win over Stoughton, netting a goal and assisting on another. On the season, Brenkman has 40 goals and 11 assists, recording 91 total points which is fourth on the WSN leaderboards.

Sofie Bucher, University School

Bucher was unstoppable for the University School of Milwaukee's girls lacrosse team this past week in a trio of matches. The Wildcats started off the week with a 20-4 win over the Wauwatosa co-op on Monday, where Bucher netted three goals on four shots and assisted on five others. The sophomore attacker then had a pair of goals and another assist in a tight 9-7 loss to Arrowhead. Bucher finished her week with her best performance in a 19-4 win over the Kenosha co-op. She netted four goals and assisted on nine others. For the season, Bucher has scored 99 points total, scoring 34 of her own and assisting on a state-leading 65 goals.

Parker Fraser, Franklin

Fraser shot the lowest round total of any golfer in the state in the conference championships this past weekend, taking home top honors at the Southeast Conference meet. The senior golfer shot a 68 at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine last Thursday to win medalist honors in his final regular season meet. His 68 was five shots better than the second place finisher and helped Franklin to a team-title with a overall score of 298.

Gabe Passini, Middleton

Passini was exceptional as he led the Middleton boys lacrosse team to a pair of wins this past week. The senior attacker was all over the pitch in the Cardinal's 18-7 win over Oregon on Tuesday. He scored four goals on seven shots on goal and assisted on one other, accounting for five total points. Passini then scored three more goals on four shots and assisted on four more in a 17-4 win over the Kenosha co-op. For the season, Passini has netted 30 goals and assisted on 17 in 17 games played.

Brandon Sylla, Independence/Gilmanton

Sylla was the catalyst for the Independence/Gilmanton baseball team this week as they went 4-0 in the final week of the regular season. In a 9-3 win over Pepin/Alma, the senior utility player went two for three with a walk, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. He also got the win on the mound, striking out four batters through four and two-thirds innings of work. He then went two for four with a walk, RBI, run scored and stolen base in a 6-3 win over Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran. Sylla then took the mound Thursday against Immanuel Lutheran and tossed seven shutout innings in the 2-0 win, striking out twelve batters and allowing just five hits. Sylla finished his week going one for two with two RBIs, two walks, and two runs scored in an 11-2 win over Alma Center Lincoln.
