Session 3 - Division 1

03/06/2008, 6:40pm CST
By Adam Krebs

Adam - 9:41 pm

Tosa is winning 36-30 after 3 quarters. ECN is keeping the pace slow. I think there might be one more run left over for the white and powder blue team....

Adam - 9:22 p.m.

Tosa s dance squad was good, but after last session, they seemed average. However, I am still jealous of anyone performing on the court this week (which includes dance squads).

ECN s squad went old school with the cheerleading outfits, and danced to a club-version of "Looking for some hot stuff" (or whatever that song is called). Good routine, but neither can crack the top of my list.

Throw these two squads wherever you want, but OW, BC and BP still lead the pack.

If anyone want to comment on the cheer squads at all (that is, if people even care), it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I will just stop paying attention.

As for the fans, both sections have done the usual songs, waves, and cheers. Not as loud overall as some earlier games, but you will have that when JMM and Oshkosh are here at the Kohl.

Adam - 9:13 p.m.

ECN makes a comeback, trails Tosa 20-18 at the break... Time for another dance-off

Adam - 8:59 pm

During a timeout, ECN fans did a little jingle-jangle dance thingy. I'm not good with names of cheers (if you haven't noticed yet), but it looked fun.

Tosa is dominating the game, though. ECN hasn't had shots fall, but Erick Williams breakaway dunk was an extra spark to the crowd and the team.

Tosa's winning 12-6 now.....

Adam - 8:45 pm

Basketball Jones is one cool dude. He was also posterized against JMM.

As for the game going on right now... Tosa leads EC North 4-0.

ECN's fans come in numbers, but fill up about half of one end. Tosa's fans bring the thundersticks, red shirts, and a gagillion people. Both teams are loud, with the thundersticks making Tosa just a little louder.

Rick Hamilton - 8:30 PM

We've had basketball royalty in the Wishoops Suite. Madison East Coach Rich Cleveland and LaFollette Coach Reggie Williams joined us for the Memorial-Badger Badgers game and the Badger Badger's very own Basketball Jones was just in here with his Badger Badger teammates.

Badger.

Basketball Jones:

Agreed. Momentum changer was definately the half court shot.  BC did a good job of getting Cole Meyer in foul trouble and took him out of it offensively.

Adam 8:17 p.m.

BC wins 63-55. That half-courter before halftime was the game changer. For better analysis, please see Basketball Jones, sitting to my right (AKA Jimmy Merritt of Badger).

Adam - 8:06 pm

Timeout with 1:09 left in the game... BC 56, BP 52. The crows has been loud at times, but not to the point that I'm running out to Open Pantry for some ear plugs.

Adam - 7:52 pm

For those not watching at home, Brookfield Central has taken a 43-38 lead. Oh how the tides have turned.....

Adam - 7:47 PM

So.... I haven't talked about the fans in a while... In this game, they sound alright. Not great when compared to JMM, Gtown, and OW.

Also, a Brookfield cheerleader just did backflips the entire length of the court.... FYI, half court would have worked. We know you are better at that than everyone else here... However, good job. I am bitterly envious.

Nicholas - 7:41 PM

Brookfield Central is hanging around  but Bay Port goes into the 3rd quarter with a four point lead.  The Pirates are advertised - very balanced and disciplined.  Everyone talks about the Milwaukee sectionals but don't forget that Bay Port had to get through two top 15 ranked teams (Ashwaubenon & Appleton East) to get here as well.

Check that Cory Degner just heaved one in from half court and the bank was open... Brookfield Central pulls within one.

In a uniform watch update the Pirates are sporting the Nike tight fitting shirts with baggy shorts a la Ohio State & Syracuse.  Also the Bay Port dance team were sporting sequened anchors on their unis, I feel the sequened anchor is something everyone should have in their repotoire.  (and i think i should learn how to spell reportoire)

Adam - 7:20 pm

Well, it's halftime, BP leads 24-19. We just got done with another battle of the cheer-squads. Both were excellent, and I think may have topped the last session as a whole...

My new standings.....

1a. Bay Port

1b. Oshkosh West

1c. Brookefield Central

2. Memorial

3. Badger

4. Germantown

5. I-S

Rick Hamilton - 7:05 PM

You shouldn't say you're the only one left blogging, people might stop reading.

Bay Port is wearing college-style jerseys with the tighter tops and longer shorts. But more notably, Christian Krah somehow got a jersey with the number 00, which I don't think I've ever seen at the high school level.

Adam - 6:48 pm

Apparently I'm the only one left blogging.... Score update: 10-9 BC. #31 for BC has 4 points. # 11 has 3. and #45 for BP has 3. I'm surrounded by kids from Badger here in the box, and I think they are staring at me while I play freecell......

Adam - 6:40 pm

Bay Port vs. Brookfield Central.

Both crowds look strong. Bay port with just a few more kids, and are a little louder as a whole.

Only about a third of the BC kids are doing chants at a time, whereas its about 80% with BP.

We'll see how creative and loud it stays, and the consistency of the chants.
