UW-Whitewater Leads Three WIAC Teams in Top Ten of D3Hoops.com Rankings
The UW-Whitewater men's basketball team enters the 2008-09 campaign with high hopes and high expectations. The Warhawks return 16 letter winners and four starters from last season's WIAC regular season and tournament championship team. Leading the returnees is Matt Goodwin (Milwaukee King H.S.), who has been named a pre-season D3 All-American by Sporting News. The Warhawks enter the year ranked fourth in the D3hoops.com pre-season poll and fifth in the Sporting News college basketball preview.
Joining the Warhawks in the Top Ten of the D3hoops.com poll are UW-Stevens Point at #6 and UW-Platteville at #7. UW-Platteville senior Jeff Skemp (Southwestern H.S.) joins Goodwin on the pre-season Sporting News All-American team. Lawrence University of the Midwest Conference makes it four Wisconsin teams in the Top 25, coming in at #19.
