It was just an exhibition game, but the UW-Platteville men's basketball team made a statement.  Their 84-79 win over Division I Bradley University announced to the rest of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) that the Pioneers are back and ready to challenge for their first league title since 2005.  The Pioneers feature a roster with 14 of their 19 players coming from the state of Wisconsin.  Jeff Skemp (Southwestern H.S.) finished with 20 points and a team-high 8 rebounds while Mike Shaw (Madison Edgewood H.S.) and Charlie Lohoff (Oshkosh North H.S.) chipped in 16 and 10 points respectively.

Platteville used an extremely efficient offense to counter the Braves' superior size and perceived talent.  The Pioneers shot 53% from the floor overall, 55% from the newly moved-back three point line, and 88% from the free throw line.  Platteville led 46-37 at halftime and never trailed after that.  They open the regular season Saturday on Bo Ryan Court versus Viterbo University.
