Week 4 WSN Coaches Poll

Division 1

There was relative stability amongst the top Division 1 teams this week.  Former #3 Racine Horlick and #10 Green Bay Preble were the only teams in the top ten to suffer defeat.  Horlick fell to a very good out of state team, Brooks College Prep and only slipped to #5.  Preble lost to #14 Sheboygan South, who in turn fell to Bay Port.  Those three Fox River Classic teams will battle it out all season.  With the victory, Bay Port moved into the rankings at #13.  Sheboygan South dropped out while the team they defeated, Green Bay Preble, managed to retain a precarious position at #15.  Much of the rest of the Top 15 remained the same, with the Week 4 poll featuring ten teams that are still undefeated.

Division 2

There was even fewer losses by teams in the Division 2 poll, and very little change in rankings.  Whitefish Bay was the lone team to suffer defeat from the top ten.  The Blue Dukes had a busy week.  Last Tuesday they dropped a close one to D1's #4 team Germantown by only two points on the road.  They responded with an impressive victory over a very good D1 Verona team in the Milwaukee Lutheran Showcase on Monday.  As such, they only dropped from #4 to #5.  A trio of Eastern Valley teams shook up the last few spots in the rankings.  Last week's #13 team Fox Valley Lutheran was knocked off by Weyauwega-Fremont but responded with a nice win over Clintonville.  Menawhile, former #14 Little Chute fell to Xavier.  The end result was Little Chute dropping from the rankings, Xavier entering at #14, and Fox Valley Lutheran sliding to #15.

Division 3

Division 3 saw only one top ten team lose as well.  #7 Roncalli slipped up against Olympian rival Valders and dropped to #11.  The teams directly behind them all moved up, with some minor shuffling.  #12 Oostburg and #15 Marathon lost tough conference games and dropped out of the poll, while Three Lakes and New Glarus remained perfect on the season and slid into the fourteenth and fifteenth positions respectively.

Division 4

While things remained the same in spots one, two and three, a couple other early-season favorites weren't so lucky.  Barneveld and Catholic Central both suffered their second losses on the young season and were summarily dropped from the Top 15.  Previously unbeaten #7 Port Edwards also lost, and slid completely out of the Top 15.  In fact, there are only 8 unbeatens remaining in Division 4, and one of those (North Crawford) isn't even ranked yet.  The Trojans will need to prove themselves against tougher competition to gain entry to the Top 15.  Princeton started the season on a roll, winning five straight.  They've dropped two in a row since then and have fallen from the rankings.  Solon Springs, Sheboygan Christian, Goodman, and Rib Lake are new entrants to the coaches poll.
