Week 6 WSN Coaches Poll

Division 1

The top three spots remain unchanged, although that doesn't mean there was no intrigue.  Top-ranked Madison Memorial faced the #2 team in Minnesota, Henry Sibley, and pulled out a 67-64 win.  Former #2 Oshkosh North lost twice at the WBY Shootout at the hands of Menomonee Falls and Catholic Memorial.  The Spartans dropped to #12 while the teams behind them all moved up.  Baraboo (8-0) and Milwaukee Hamilton (4-1) came into the rankings after Hudson and Green Bay Preble suffered losses.  Milwaukee Hamilton is of course an intriguing team with the attention afforded the transfers of several high-profile players from Bay View and the ensuing hire of former Vincent coach Tom Diener.

Division 2

Wisconsin Lutheran cemented their place atop the rankings with a win over D3's top-ranked team Racine St. Catherine's.  The rest of the top six remained unchanged.  Former unbeaten's Plymouth and Pewaukee tasted defeat for the first time and slipped to #9 and #10 respectively.  The bottom three of Monroe, Xavier, and Fox Valley Lutheran all suffered losses and were replaced by Medford, Catholic Memorial, and Oconto.

Division 3

Racine St. Catherine's remained in the top spot despite a loss.  However, as mentioned above that loss was to Division 2's top-ranked team in Wisconsin Lutheran.  This observer would tend to agree with the coaches in keeping St. Cat's at the top.  Cuba City stayed in the number two spot thanks to a 50 point effort from junior Evan Richard in a big win over Brookfield Academy.  Former #4 Whitefish Bay Dominican suffered their second loss, but only slipped to #6.  Of course that loss was to Humble Christian (TX) that featured probably four Division I recruits including Junior Cadougan who is going to Marquette and Latavious Williams who is ranked in the top 30 players in the nation.  Another good call by the coaches to not drop Dominican too far.  Luck and Fall Creek did remain unbeaten and jump ahead of them however.  New Glarus also remained unbeaten and made some very strong showings (including a win over Benton) to shoot up the rankings from #15 to #7.  Eau Claire Regis and Roncalli suffered losses and were replaced in the rankings by Colby and Pacelli.

Division 4

Three of the top four teams suffered losses, including the top two.  #1 Randolph fell on a last second shot by Madison East's Marquis Mason but, much like St. Cat's in D3 were able to retain the top spot.  Another decision by the coaches I agree with.  As mentioned above, #2 Benton lost to New Glarus but only dropped one spot to #3.  Assumption moved into that #2 spot.  Former #4 Southwestern lost games to Benton and upstart Boscobel and slipped to #9.  Boscobel is undefeated and knocking on the door in the Division 3 rankings.  Gilmanton and Flambeau remain unbeaten and occupy the #4 and #5 positions.  Destiny and Alma are new additions to the Top 15 while Black Hawk and Solon Springs have dropped out.
