Travis Wilson, 1:27 pm - The subs are in for both teams and it is going to Benton taking home the 20009 Division 4 State Championship. Congratulations to both teams on a great season. Congratulations also to Benton head coach Jim Blaine, who has long been a great supporter of ours.
Travis Wilson, 1:08 pm - Benton's run off six more quick points in the first 1:48 of the fourth quarter, causing Assumption to take a time-out to regroup. The Zephyr train may be leaving the station in this one, and on it's way to the school's first ever state championship.
Travis Wilson, 1:04 pm - Benton shows just how quickly they can score with their high-powered offense. The Zephyrs scored 10 points in the last 1:44 of the third quarter to take a 36-27 lead heading into the fourth.
Great, now we've got dueling "rollercoasters" by the team's student sections.
Travis Wilson, 12:56 pm - We're just into the third quarter, and neither team has been able to separate from the other. The biggest lead has been 5 points, and it currently sits at a 3-point game in favor of Benton. The defenses are definitely outplaying the offenses for both teams as it remains a game in the mid-20's for both teams here in the third quarter. Assumption has turned the ball over a few more times to help Benton take this lead.
Travis Wilson, 12:20 pm - I also want to make sure to mention the WBCA Awards that were announced this morning. Memorial's Jeronne Maymon was named the state's Mr. Basketball. The WBCA All-State teams are listed below:
Division 1 All-State
Division 2 All-State
Division 3 All-State
Division 4 All-State
Travis Wilson, 12:06 pm - The lights are off and introductions are underway. Seems to be a pretty good crowd on hand overall, although there's really very few people here yet from the D2 schools. I think Benton has kind of captured a lot of attention around the state's basketball community and people want to check it out.
